Island Thoughts

Good EVENING, y'all!  Ryan had his first baseball game tonight and we really thought we were going to get rained out (the game prior to his did), but they did play a couple of innings.  Ryan got a good solid hit at one of his at bats, too.

But anyway, I wanted to get a quick little CAS card posted today so here it is:

My dad suggested I make a get-well card for a family friend who had surgery on her thumb for trigger finger, so here it is.  I started with the mood board from Inkspirational:

I was inspired by the colors (of course) and the big, bold flower in the middle.  Island Blossoms is an old favorite stamp set : )  Next up is the AAA Cards Challenge sketch:

The rainbow lines immediately made me think of the lines stamp from Dream Come True, which is another stamp set I've had for ages.  Then I just had to hunt up an appropriate greeting and pop on a few Glossy Dots, and now it's ready to mail tomorrow.

It's past 9pm which means I'm about to turn into a pumpkin.  Night, y'all!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Island Blossoms, Inspired Thoughts, Dream Come True
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Azure Afternoon, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive
Paper:  Summer Splash, Thick Basic White
Accessories:  Glossy Dots, Dimensionals

Cocok's Toes 2009

Scrappy Monday!  Well, now that it's June I thought it was going to be really sunny and warm...nope, lots of clouds and it's actually pretty cool outside right now.  As someone who hates the heat and humidity that come with summer in the South, I'll take this :D  But I do have a summery layout to share today, and it's all about TOES!

When we lived in (on?) Okinawa, about every six weeks or so I'd go to a place called Cocok's (the K is silent, I know it's weird) for a pedicure.  For about $40, you could get an hour long massage and then whatever intricate design you could think up painted on your toes.  It was pretty awesome.  So of course I always took pictures of my toes, and this is the kind of thing you do with friends so I took pictures of my friends' toes too and here are all the Cocok's toes for 2009.

Ya know I love my mixed font titles.

If you click the picture of the whole layout to see it bigger, you'll see I modeled my scrapbook pages after my favorite toe design with the green stripes and bright yellow flowers.

We've got three long-retired colors as part of the palette today.  The page base is Green Galore, the stripes are Glorious Green, and Pink Passion for the flowers.  The other three colors are Daffodil Delight, Basic Gray, and Whisper White.

Time to feed the kiddo and then get going to the gym.  Cheers, y'all!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Back to Basics Alphabet, Broadsheet Alphabet, Flower Patch, Island Blossoms
Ink:  Gable Green, Glorious Green, Daffodil Delight, Pink Passion, Basic Gray marker
Paper:  Green Galore, Glorious Green, Pink Passion, Whisper White, Beyond the Garden DSP
Accessories: none

Honeymoon Cruise, Part 10: Serenity Bay

Here we are folks, the very end of my honeymoon cruise album!  *confetti*

Serenity Bay is the adults-only beach on Castaway Cay, Disney's private island in the Bahamas.  And it is serene because no noisy kiddos running around shrieking :)

And here is the very last page and YES IT'S GOT A CREASE IN IT.  As I was working on this album, I stored completed pages in a big plastic folder and this last page was actually one of the first ones I did.  So when I finished new pages, I would slide all the completed pages out so I could put the newly-done pages in order with everything else, and when I was like one or two layouts away from being finished I accidentally got this last page folded over while I was putting them back in the storage folder.  DAGNABBIT.  I might redo the page later, when I've gotten over my honeymoon album project fatigue, but for now it's just staying as-is.

The last time you have to see the color palette for this album!  Yay it's done!

Baby Ryan is starting to sing the song of his people, so I think it's naptime.  Cheers, y'all!

Supplies for the whole album:
Stamps:  Tall Tales Alphabet, Island Blossoms, Once Upon a Time
Ink:  Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Orchid Opulence, Basic Gray marker
Paper:  Whisper White, Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Orchid Opulence
Accessories:  Scallop border punch, Mickey Mouse punches

Honeymoon Cruise, Part 9: Castaway Cay

Happy Saturday, y'all!  And today really *is* Saturday :D  I'm about to go grab the munchkin and get our day started, but first I have the penultimate post for my honeymoon cruise album!  Wheeeee!

We're finally on the Orchid Opulence section of the album!  Castaway Cay was our third and final port; it's Disney's private island in the Bahamas.

I confess, we had a bunch of pictures from Castaway Cay and I don't really remember anything about them.  Hence, no journaling!  This is what happens when you wait 12 years before doing the album.  Oops!  It's nice that for a lot of things, I have blog posts to refer back to, but not this one.

Color palette for the whole album; you've seen this before.  Just one more blog post and that's this album finished!

Cheers, y'all!  I'm going to go get Sodapop and get some baby cuddles.

Supplies for the whole album:
Stamps:  Tall Tales Alphabet, Island Blossoms
Ink:  Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Orchid Opulence, Basic Gray marker
Paper:  Whisper White, Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Orchid Opulence
Accessories:  Scallop border punch, Mickey Mouse punches

Honeymoon Cruise, Part 8: St. Thomas

Saturday already?  Guess then it's time for more honeymoon album pages!

St. Thomas was our second port of call on the cruise.  We didn't do a shore excursion this time, just wandered around the island a little bit on our own and had lunch in town (mostly what I remember is these AWESOME ham and cheese sandwiches on croissants).  Didn't even take a whole lot of pictures.  And this layout was SUPER annoying--I had it almost ready to go and I dropped an inked-up stamp on the left page where the journaling is, so I had to redo that page.  Arrrrgh.

Ummmm after I finished this I showed it to my husband and we think some of these departure pictures might have been from when we left Florida at the beginning of the cruise, not leaving out of St. Thomas.  Oops.  I didn't label the pictures very well when we first went on this cruise.  The only other thing I remember about St. Thomas is that as we sailed away, we saw a family get on a motorboat and chase the cruise ship.  Yeah, they're serious when they say to be back aboard ship by a certain time...bet that motorboat owner made a pretty penny from them!

Today we're in the Wild Wasabi section of the book.  That means just one more section left!

Cheers, y'all!

Supplies for the whole album:
Stamps:  Tall Tales Alphabet, Island Blossoms
Ink:  Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Orchid Opulence, Basic Gray marker
Paper:  Whisper White, Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Orchid Opulence
Accessories:  Scallop border punch, Mickey Mouse punches

Honeymoon Cruise, Part 7: St. Maarten

Happy Saturday afternoon, y'all!  I didn't share any honeymoon album pages last weekend so I definitely didn't want to miss this weekend.  I still have a few more posts after this one even.

So now we're on to St. Maarten.  I didn't do a title on this page because it seemed kinda redundant with the giant St. Maaarten sign in the picture.

Actually the St. Maarten pages were the very last ones I made for the entire album.  We did an excursion where they took us on a bus tour of the island and we spent some time at a butterfly farm, which was pretty cool.

Lots and lots of butterfly pictures :)

So these are all the pages in the Melon Mambo section of the album, and hubs just sat down next to me and is giving me side-eye because he wants the computer.  Well, he IS doing classwork so I can't argue with him.  Cheers, y'all!

Supplies for the whole album:
Stamps:  Tall Tales Alphabet, Island Blossoms
Ink:  Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Orchid Opulence, Basic Gray marker
Paper:  Whisper White, Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Orchid Opulence
Accessories:  Scallop border punch, Mickey Mouse punches

Honeymoon Cruise, Part 6: Classic Characters & Modern Favorites

Happy weekend, y'all!  As I type this, kiddo is getting a bath in the kitchen sink (or really, inside a baby tub on the sink) and then we're going to try taking some pictures of him since he's five months old today.  Already!

And it's already Saturday again, which means time for some more honeymoon cruise layouts.  We're on the Disney characters section of the book :)

So there's Pinocchio, Wendy Darling from Peter Pan, Dopey from Snow White, Peter Pan himself, and Smee and Captain Hook from Peter Pan.  Captain Hook refused to stand next to me in the picture because I was wearing a Tinker Bell shirt :)

And here's Lilo and Stitch from...Lilo & Stitch, Aladdin from duh do I even have to say it, Pain & Panic from Hercules (they were the FUNNIEST thing in the show we went to one night) and Goofy's son Max from A Goofy Movie, which I have still never seen.

Preeeetty sure you've seen the color palette before.  Well, Ryan is almost done with his bath, so it's time to blow-dry his hair (yes, for reals) and then try taking some pictures.  Wish us a cooperative kiddo!

Supplies for the whole album:
Stamps:  Tall Tales Alphabet, Island Blossoms
Ink:  Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Orchid Opulence, Basic Gray marker
Paper:  Whisper White, Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Orchid Opulence

Honeymoon Cruise, Part 5: Princess Pictures & Character Breakfast

Happy Saturday!  I'm back with a couple more honeymoon cruise layouts.  And we're now at my favorite section:  the Disney characters!

I started this layout like two years ago when I actually started the album, and after I got everything done I wish I'd done a strip of Pacific Point across the pages above the title to help ground the layout a little bit.  I think this has a bit of the old "sticker sneeze" effect.

See, the strips help ground this one.

The "Characters" section is all Pumpkin Pie along with the album-wide colors of Whisper White, Pacific Point, and Tempting Turquoise.  Moving right along!

Got my layout done yesterday (except that hubs needs to do journaling on it) and I've got another one started.  Kiddo is napping already so I think I have a date with my craft room.  Cheers, y'all!

Supplies for the whole album:
Stamps:  Tall Tales Alphabet, Island Blossoms
Ink:  Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Orchid Opulence, Basic Gray marker
Paper:  Whisper White, Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Orchid Opulence
Accessories:  Scallop border punch, Mickey Mouse punches

Honeymoon Cruise, Part 4: Animator's Palate and Towel Creatures

Hey y'all, happy Saturday!  I'm excited because Missy and I are going to get pedicures in a couple of hours.  Wheee!

But first up, we are finally at the end of the Daffodil Delight section of my honeymoon album.  Whee again!

These pics are from our favorite restaurant on the ship.  At the start of the meal, the entire room is decorated in black-and-white; the walls are covered in pencil sketches of Disney characters and even the waiters wear black and white.  As the meal progresses though, the larger pictures on the walls gradually get more colorful, and the waiters change into colored vests too.  My pics of it are pretty terrible (uh, the whole time I was working on this album I couldn't help thinking that if we did this cruise again, we would have MUCH MO' BETTAH pictures) but it looked pretty cool in real life.

Every afternoon, we'd return to our cabin to find a new towel creature awaiting us on the bed.  Some of them even borrowed our sunglasses ;)

Like I said, this is the last of the "Ship" section, so next weekend we'll start the Pumpkin Pie section which is all pics with Disney characters.  If I get to post next weekend...we have family in town starting this Wednesday.

Cheers y'all!  I'm off to get my toes did.

Supplies for the whole album:
Stamps:  Tall Tales Alphabet, Island Blossoms
Ink:  Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Orchid Opulence, Basic Gray marker
Paper:  Whisper White, Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Orchid Opulence
Accessories:  Scallop border punch, Mickey Mouse punches

Honeymoon Cruise, Part 3: Eating Ourselves Silly

Hey y'all!  Happy Saturday!  I'm back once more with a couple more honeymoon cruise layouts.

If these layouts give you the impression that we spent most of the cruise eating, well...that's accurate.

I discovered when taking pictures of this album that it's HARD to get good pics of a white-background scrapbook layout.  Maybe I need a darker background to put the pages on when I try to take pictures?  I don't know, I photographed the entire book TWICE and this was the best I could do.  Still need to actually put all these pages in the album.

We are still in the land of Daffodil Delight, but Pumpkin Pie is coming up soon :)  Have a great weekend and cheers, peeps!

Supplies for the whole album:
Stamps:  Tall Tales Alphabet, Island Blossoms
Ink:  Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Orchid Opulence, Basic Gray marker
Paper:  Whisper White, Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Orchid Opulence
Accessories:  Scallop border punch, Mickey Mouse punches

P.S. I totally had tacos for dinner last night.  I couldn't help it after posting my taco truck card :D

Honeymoon Cruise, Part 2: The Ship

Mornin', y'all!  How's your weekend going?  We're having a good day so far.  Ryan says hi :)  He's also very interested in my morning cuppa, but I'm not letting him have hot tea yet.  He keeps looking up at the cup and putting up his hands every time I take a sip.

So anyway, we're back for more scrapbook pages from our Disney cruise back in 2005.

These are a few pictures from before we actually boarded the boat; there on the left is the first of several photos we bought from Disney.  You know how they take professional pictures at the parks and stuff and you can buy them later?  Or the pictures on roller coasters?  They do that on the cruises too, and we did end up buying several of them.

Even after we boarded the ship, we had a few hours to look around and explore before our cabin was ready, so we ate lunch at one of the restaurants and went looking around.

And here we are, finally on our way.  There's pics of our cabin and verandah on the left, and then a couple pics from the bon voyage deck party on the right.

So the main color for this section of the album is Daffodil Delight, along with Whisper White, Pacific Point, and Tempting Turquoise that go through the whole thing.

I'm going to go play with Ryan for a bit until he gets pouty and wants to go down for his nap.  Y'all have a great Saturday!

Supplies for the whole album:
Stamps:  Tall Tales Alphabet, Island Blossoms
Ink:  Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Orchid Opulence, Basic Gray marker
Paper:  Whisper White, Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Orchid Opulence
Accessories:  Scallop border punch, Mickey Mouse punches

Honeymoon Cruise, Part 1: Title Page & Table of Contents

Y'all, I DID IT.  I finished my honeymoon album!  Okay, so I finished all the pages for it but I haven't put them in the actual album yet.  Close enough.

Only 12 years overdue!  So for the entire album, I used a very limited set of supplies and I divided the pictures into five categories, each with its own color:

Pacific Point and Tempting Turquoise are on all the layouts, and then the other colors are only for that specific category.  Limiting the supplies like that made it faster to put the pages together (once I forced myself to sit down and just finish the dang thing) and now it's obvious that they all go together.

The album colors:  Whisper White, Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, and Orchid Opulence.  I bought cardstock to do this album waaaaayyyy back before the first big color refresh when the 12x12 cardstock was really more like 11 3/4" cardstock, and then I changed all the colors to the newer versions after the color refresh (older ones were Brilliant Blue, Yoyo Yellow, Only Orange, Pink Passion...I think I changed out the still-current Old Olive for Wild Wasabi).  I kept Orchid Opulence, because there just wasn't a good replacement for that.  Stampin' Up!, we need more purples :D

Sooo I'll be sharing pages from this album on Sundays for a while.  But for today I'm gonna go see WONDER WOMAN!!!!  Cheers, y'all!

Supplies for the whole album:
Stamps:  Tall Tales Alphabet, Island Blossoms
Ink:  Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Orchid Opulence, Basic Gray marker
Paper:  Whisper White, Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Orchid Opulence
Accessories:  Scallop border punch, Mickey Mouse punches

A-Team Baby Book: No-Name's First Year

Happy Saturday, y'all!  Today I'm starting a brand new baby book series, and this one's for a GIRL!  My niece should be making her world debut here in a couple of weeks.  So here's the first page in her baby book:

Your eyes do not deceive you, there is no name on that page.  My brother and his wife have picked a name, but they're not telling until she gets here :)  My mom has the same Sizzix alphabet and I gave her some Cucumber Crush cardstock, so she can cut the letters to complete the page once Baby Girl arrives.  (Mom's local to them, I'm not.)  Anyway, they're going for a ladybug theme for the nursery so that's why I chose that for the front page.  And mama loves polka dots.  The album I picked to put all the pages in is black with white polka dots, too.

Today's color palette:  Whisper White, Basic Black, Real Red, Crushed Curry, Cucumber Crush, and just a wee bit of Smoky Slate.

Cheers, y'all!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Island Blossoms, Good Times
Ink:  Basic Black, Crushed Curry, Cucumber Crush, Real Red, Smoky Slate
Paper:  Whisper White, Real Red, Cucumber Crush, Basic Black DSP
Accessories:  Sizzix alphabet
