Green Thumb for the Paper Players

Sunday once again, and that means it's time for a new Paper Players challenge!  I'm so glad they invited me to be a guest designer for them this year, I've been having such a fun time : )  Here's the new theme challenge:

I have to say, my house is where plants come to die...I very much do NOT have a green thumb, mine are both black!  (And sometimes all my fingers are multicolored, ha!)  Paper flowers are the only ones I can grow.  We do have five orchid plants in our kitchen window, but my hubs is solely responsible for keeping those alive, I can claim no credit for that!  Happily, I can have all the paper flowers I want in my craft room.

If you're wondering if I used last week's sketch *again*, you are correct!  I made this when I was on my sketch spree for last week's challenge and decided when I got to TEN cards that I should probably split them up between the challenges : )  So I used last week's sketch and the beautiful and rainbow-y Hues of Happiness DSP to make several more cards!

I'm a bit of a hoarder when it comes to pretty papers, so I kinda had to force myself to cut into this paper, but I'm so glad I did.  I had fun playing with the different colors and fussy cutting the flowers (I don't have the coordinating stamp and die bundle).

This is a bit more liberal take on the sketch, I thought the center stripe on the DSP could stand in for the horizontal layer on the sketch.  And this paper is so pretty that I didn't want to cover it up if I could help it.  It was fun picking and choosing which flowers to fussy cut for my cards, so many choices!

Hope you'll have a good time with this theme too!  Don't forget to upload your green thumb creations at the Paper Players blog.  Have fun!

Panda R&R

Hey y'all, how's your week going?  Yesterday was frustrating here, I felt like I couldn't get anything done and then I got called in to work in the afternoon so there was no way to finish anything in my craft room.  But I did finally get a card made this morning and I'll be heading back upstairs as soon as this blog post is published : )  I finally inked up a stamp set I got from my new catty preorder.

How awesome is that panda?  My little brother was semi-obsessed with pandas for a while when we were kids, so I'll save this card to send to him.  I just had to pull out that sentiment from the recently retired Timeless Tropical set, it was too perfect for this snoozing panda.

So glad I finally got to play along in the Inspire. Create. sketch challenge:

I paired that with this week's Color Throwdown:

I used Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, and Garden Green for my colors, with a bit of Basic Gray to add some shading to the panda.  I watercolored the image because there aren't any Garden Green Blends (why, SU?!).  I had fun making this and I know my brother will like it when he gets it : )

Lovely Butterfly

Hey y'all, how's your afternoon going?  At least, it's afternoon where I am.  Once again, I managed to snatch about 20 minutes in my craft room this morning so I have something to blog this afternoon :)

This is the maiden voyage for Amazing Silhouettes, which is a lovely stamp set bundled with some awesome word dies that I didn't use this time around.  I did take a stab at this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

I let my new rhinestones stand in for the chevrons on the sketch, and I went over the butterfly negative space with Wink of Stella for more sparkle which, of course, doesn't show up in the picture.  I'm hoping to get lots more stamping/scrapbooking done tomorrow as I finally have a day off--most of my days off recently Ryan has been home as well and it's just about impossible to do paper crafting with him in residence.  Looking forward to getting inky tomorrow!

Supplies, all SU!

Paper:  Thick Basic White

ETA:  Well, here's a fun surprise--my squirrel card was chosen as the winner over at Just Add Ink!  Thanks, y'all!

Bamboozled

Hey y'all!  I couldn't let this week's Freshly Made Sketch pass me by so here's the card I made yesterday:

As soon as I saw the new SU! catalog, I knew I'd be getting Bamboo Beauty on my first order.  I'm pretty much a sucker for any Asian-inspired stamp sets since we lived in Japan for a couple of years.  Plus it's just so pretty!  Here's the sketch I used:

I should have stamped the sentiment up a leetle bit higher, oops.  For the rectangular panel, I inked up one of my acrylic blocks with Sahara Sand ink and then because my ink pad is still very, very juicy, I used a sponge to pick up the excess ink before I stamped it.  Then I just stamped the bamboo and sentiment on top of it, easy peasy.  I'm loving the color combination of Soft Succulent, Evening Evergreen, and Sahara Sand!

Okay, I've got to get several boxes ready to ship out today so I'd better get started.  Cheers, y'all!
