Cozy Kindness

Mornin' y'all.  I got some time to stamp on Friday so I had cards to share through the weekend and here's today's card:

A couple of cozy creatures to go with the Inspired By... challenge:

That knit texture in the photo reminded me of the Knit Together background stamp I got a couple of years ago, and I love the animals from All Bundled Up so that's where I started my card.  I took the colors Pecan Pie, Cajun Craze, and Mossy Meadow from the pic, plus some Wild Wheat.  I thought this challenge worked well with the inspo list at Festive Friday:

I chose bold colors, wool (the knit stamp counts, right?), feet, and kindness.  Now I'm wondering if I have any stamps with sock images...hmm.

That's it for me today, peeps.  Ryan starts school again tomorrow after having two weeks off for fall break.  I will be doing super fun things while he's at school...like laundry ; ) Cheers!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  All Bundled Up, Knit Together, Kindest Gnomes
Ink:  Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, Stampin' Blends in Pecan Pie, Ivory, Crumb Cake, Mossy Meadow, Cajun Craze, Wild Wheat

Warm Friendship with the Paper Players

I was typing the title for this blog post and my pinky finger hit a key funny and it typed a pi sign, I have no idea how to do that on purpose.  Ooh, I just figured it out, it's option + p and it gives you π!  (I have a Mac keyboard.)  Here it is nine in the morning and I've already learned something today.

And now it's time for a new challenge from the Paper Players!

This super versatile sketch is from Laurie!  If I'd had time I could have made a whole bunch of cards with this sketch, but Thanksgiving prep last week took up a lot of my stamping time.  (It was worth it though!)  Anyway, here's what I made:

I hadn't used the bunny from All Bundled Up yet, so I stamped her and the cute raccoon, colored with Blends, cut them out and popped them up on a piece of the Fitting Florets DSP.  Very simple card design but I think it's cute!

I hope you'll have fun with this sketch too and post your card creation over at the Paper Players blog.  Enjoy!

Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Evening Evergreen, Stampin' Blends in Gray Granite, Smoky Skate, Balmy Blue, Mint Macaron, Petal Pink

SUO Challenges: Color My World

Good morning, y'all!  It's time for a new challenge at Stampin' Up! Only Challenges!

This time it's a technique challenge and I think you're gonna like it:  coloring!  You've got some options here, you could do Stampin' Blends, the regular markers, watercolor pencils...hey, I think watercoloring would count too ; )  I decided to take a break from Halloween cards (whaaaaat) and instead went for All Bundled Up from the holiday catalog.  Take a look:

I chose that pink snowflake pattern from the Celebrate Everything DSP Stack, which gave me Polished Pink as a starting point.  I chose Tahitian Tide and Granny Apple Green for complementary colors and then neutrals for these two woodland pals.  Normally I seriously dislike brown and gray together, but I think it works for these two.  (And I still think that moose looks like my brother!)

I've been practicing a lot with my Blends of late.  When I first got alcohol markers, I tried laying down the lightest color first and then using the darker Blend for shading, but I always ended up with harsh lines around the shadows.  Now I do it in reverse:  I put in the darker areas and then lay down the base layer of the lighter shade, which lets me blend the colors together better.  I think I saw a video somewhere where they did the dark color first, but I don't remember when or where I saw it.

Hope you'll join us for this challenge and upload your card at the SUO Challenges blog.  Cheers!

The Coolest Moose

Mornin' y'all!  Today's card is a bit unusual for me...I did NOT make it for any challenges!  Last week I decided to just play around with some of my new stamp sets, just for funsies, and this is one of the cards I made.

Funny story:  I bought this stamp set in part because I think this moose looks like my brother.  Exhibit A:

I showed this card to my mom on a video chat and she agreed with me!  Hubs thinks that's mean but seriously this moose is adorable.  I chose a super-colorful pattern from the Celebrate Everything DSP in the holiday catalog and just went to town with ALLLLL the wild colors and gave him a Doctor Who-inspired scarf.  I had fun just playing with the stamp set and not worrying about making this for a challenge : )

Have a great day, peeps!
