Moon's Out, Brooms Out

Mornin' y'all!  I did my workout this morning (my arms are going to be sore tomorrow) and now I'm relaxing with a cuppa tea : )  Later today I plan to take Ryan out to Target to look at some new sheets...I have no idea how, but when we moved this summer all the fitted sheets disappeared.  Like, I have two or three flat sheets and no fitted sheets??  And I want to look at what they have for comforters too.

But first, a card to share!  I was intrigued by the sketch from Sunday Stamps:

I actually gave it an abortive try with Painted Lavender before my brain kicked in and said HALLOWEEEEEEEEEEN so here's what I made instead:

The broom stamp is from Cauldron Bubble; I've never even used it before and today it gets to be the star of the show.  My current Halloween cross stitch project is this one from Autumn Lane Stitchery and I love the "Moon's Out, Brooms Out" sentiment : ) I stamped my trio of brooms on a Wild Wheat wash from the Splendid Autumn DSP Stack and used the Deckled Rectangles dies for the main panel and the sentiment.  I actually started this card with the "Bubble, Bubble, Toil & Trouble" stamp for the sentiment but I decided later that that only made sense with the cauldron image, not the broom, so I managed to detach it from the card and put Happy Halloween on there instead.

That's it for me today, peeps.  I'm going to go try to figure out my fitted sheet situation : )  Cheers!

Tiffany Aching

Mornin', y'all!  Yesterday was the only day this week that we don't have much going on, just Ryan's taekwondo practice.  Monday we drove down to Baylor University with my parents and showed Ryan where both me and the hubs went to college and where we met (Ryan was unimpressed), and today we're going to Dinosaur World in Glen Rose.  As soon as I write up this post and go pack a lunch, anyway.

Meet Tiffany Aching.

Actually I think Tiffany would be more likely to have a sheep with her ; ) This year I've been reading through Sir Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels (highly recommend, they are like the most British thing ever and one caused me to burst into laughter in an airport), and one of the characters is the young witch Tiffany Aching.  Tiffany wears the black pointy hat, but she prefers to wear a green dress instead of witchy black and says that "I shall wear midnight when I am old!"  Hmm, I'm looking at the picture of my card and I think I should have used a different color for her skin, she looks a bit ghostly here.

Anyway, Tiffany may be a young witch, but she is up to the challenges.  Five challenges, even.  Let's start with Retro Rubber:

Tiffany and her friends are from the stamp set Cauldron Bubble, which I got in 2018 so it's five years retro.  Next up is the Paper Players color challenge:

Those colors are all in the Cutest Halloween DSP Stack from a few years ago, so I busted it out and then...chose two patterns that are black and white only.  I'll talk more about that in a minute, for now let's check out the Inspire. Create. challenge:

I think Halloween and fall cards are my favorite to make out of everything.  Next up is the Global Design Project:

Pretty sure I've got some patterns happening on my card.  Plaid, polka dots, candies, words, even stripes on her tights.  I just kept piling on more patterns to follow the latest Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch:

I may have another go at that sketch, I like it but I think my card ended up being on the busy side.

Speaking of being on the busy side, I'd better go pack us a picnic lunch so we can get on the road.  Cheers, y'all!

Baby Luke: April

Uuuurrrrrggghhhh.  Lately Ryan has been having bad dreams and waking us up a lot in the middle of the night and the hubs and I are SO. TIRED. today but of course Ryan is all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and hyperactive.  Anybody know how to find a kid's off switch?

Buuut it's time for another layout from Baby Luke's baby book, so here it is:

My sister-in-law attended Texas Christian University, so this is my nod to the school colors and mascot.  I don't have any horned frog stamps (I did search online, and no luck) so I went with regular frogs from a past Sale-a-Bration stamp set, So Hoppy Together.  Paired with a favorite cloud pattern from an old pack of DSP and this layout came together pretty quick.

Cheers, y'all.  Send caffeine.

Supplies:
Stamps:  So Hoppy Together, Cauldron Bubble
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Stampin' Blends in Granny Apple Green, Highland Heather, Flirty Flamingo, Pool Party
Paper:  Pacific Point, Granny Apple Green, Highland Heather, Thick Whisper White, Gorgeous Grape DSP, Sunshine & Sprinkles DSP
Accessories:  Sizzix letters, Stitched Shapes dies

Who You Gonna Call?

Okay, I shared the Halloween layout from Ryan's baby book on Saturday, so I have to share the layout from my regular chronological scrapbook today!  All the pictures except the two on the right were taken on Halloween.

The two on the right were taken at a Halloween event at Mount Vernon, George Washington's estate.  I think that second picture from the left is hilarious, how Ryan is looking at me like WHAT does she have on her head?!  I made my colander hat myself :D

Today's color palette is Brilliant Blue, Real Red, Old Olive, and Whisper White.  I am running very low on Brilliant Blue cardstock, so it's a good thing I stocked up on Blueberry Bushel before it retired since they're very similar.

The first packers get here one week from today!  Still got a lot to do before they get here...

Cheers, y'all!

Celestina Warbeck

I've been re-watching the Harry Potter movies for the past few days...I watched Prisoner of Azkaban last night while I stitched, and I underestimated how long that movie is.  If I had a Time Turner I would definitely use it every single night because then I could stay up late, turn it a few times and go to bed early!  Wouldn't THAT be awesome.

Anyway, in the later books, Mrs. Weasley likes to spend Christmas listening to Celestina Warbeck on the radio, and one of her songs is "A Cauldron Full of Hot, Strong Love" and I'm pretty sure that's what my little pastel witchy-poo has brewed up today.

This cute little witch and all the rest of the stamps I used today are part of Cauldron Bubble, so I'll enter this over at What Will You Stamp:

I decided to go the pastel route for Celestina due to the latest challenge from Fusion

I was a bit limited by what Stampin' Blends I have so far, so I used Petal Pink (the light one is a good skin tone color), Mint Macaron, and the light Rich Razzleberry.  I probably wouldn't have put those three shades together on my own but I think I made them work?  I would have used Pool Party if I had that color in the Blends but I don't.  And I would have used Highland Heather but I only have Rich Razzleberry and Blackberry Bliss for purples.  Clearly I need to get all the rest of the Blends ;)  And I should probably look up some videos to learn how to make them, y'know, BLEND.

Last up is the Just Add Ink sketch:
Cute, I like it.

The hubs is coming home for the weekend this afternoon, can't wait to see him again!  And this weekend, since it finally feels like fall, I shall be making a cauldron full of...taco soup.  Yum!

Cheers, y'all!

The Witch Is In

Well, I had to dust off everything in my craft room, but I did get a card made yesterday so yay me!  (And thank you to Ryan, who took a nice long nap!)  Right before my unplanned hiatus, I ordered pretty much all of the Halloween stuff from the SU! holiday catalog, so I had to play with that first.  Here's what I did:

New stamp set, new paper, even new markers!  I used the Basic Black Blends to color in the witch's hat.  I'm working on my Blends collection but I think this is only the first or second time I've used them.  Anyway, this card is a first for me:  a QUINTUPLE CHALLENGE CARD.  And I didn't pick three Halloween theme challenges either...actually none of them is a Halloween theme challenge.

First up is the SUO Challenge to use something from the holiday catalog.  I am not at all ready for Christmas cards, so I went with Halloween instead and that Toil & Trouble DSP kinda feels like retro DSP because it reminds me of a lot of stuff I had when I first started scrapbooking (which is --gulp-- over 20 years ago).

Next up is the What Will You Stamp? challenge:

I kept telling myself I wasn't going to get this stamp set and then oops, it came to my house anyway.  Um, I bought all the Halloween stuff this year (stamps and paper anyway, not ribbon and embellishments because I tend not to use that stuff although the black glitter ribbon would have been awesome on this card).  I'm a little bummed I missed when they did the Takeout Treats challenge because I own that stamp set and it hasn't been inked up yet.

Moving right along!  Here's the color challenge courtesy of Fab Friday:

I reeeeeallllly wanted to add some Granny Apple Green or Lemon Lime Twist in there but I was a good girl and stuck strictly to the challenge colors.  Great Halloween colors.

Next up is the Sketch Saturday sketch:

I only recently started following this challenge and this is my first time to play along over there.

Last, but certainly not least, is the Just Us Girls trend week challenge:

Because there are stars on my witch's hat.  :D. There's a really great starry pattern in the Toil & Trouble DSP but I think I may hoard it for future use.

That's it for me today, peeps.  Fingers crossed I can pick up some momentum this week and stamp some more schtuff!  Gotta at least get some ink on the Halloween goodies before the end of the month, right?  Cheers!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Cauldron Bubble, Spooky Sweets
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Pumpkin Pie, Gorgeous Grape, Basic Black Blends
Paper:  Basic Black, Thick Whisper White, Toil & Trouble DSP
Accessories:  Frosted Bouquet Framelits, Cauldron Framelits, white baker's twine, hole punch, glitter enamel shape, mini Dimensionals

P.S.  Thought you might like to see one of the projects I recently finished stitching as I think it fits in with today's card:

The pattern is by Satsuma Street; I've also done her owls pattern and these are both with my mom to be framed.  I've recently become a fan of dyed fabric for cross stitch pieces; I got this purple from a lady who sells hand-dyed fabrics through Facebook and we won't even talk about how big my stash is already.  I love alllllll the pretty colors!
