Baby Giraffe

Hey y'all, happy Friday.  I spent the morning catching up on NCIS and working on my stitching, but I'm about to go up to my craft room again.  And in a continuation of the retired stamp showcase I seem to be running here, today's card features two retired stamp sets.

D'aww.  I wasn't thinking about it as I made the card, but I totally made this gender-neutral.  Actually my first choice for the card base was Soft Sea Foam, and then I discovered that my SSF ink pad is in desperate need of a re-inking and guess who doesn't have that ink refill?  I have the Soft Subtles refills...but from *before* the last color refresh, so no Soft Sea Foam.  Guess what's going on my next order.

Anyway, the inspo pic on the current Fusion challenge is just too sweet:

I used the sketch as well, though I flipped it so all the elements are on the right rather than the left.  I didn't want my baby giraffe looking right off the edge of the card.  Did you know that giraffes give birth standing up?  Nothing says welcome to the world like a 6-foot drop I guess!

Cheers, y'all!

Supplies, all SU!

Ink:  Pear Pizzazz, Cinnamon Cider, Memento Tuxedo Black, Stampin' Blends in Cinnamon Cider & So Saffron

Friday Flashback: Baby Talk

Welcome to this week's Friday Flashback!  I tell ya, if there's one thing I need a lot of lately it's baby cards.  Lucky for me, today's featured stamp set is the baby-licious Baby Talk.  Let's flash back!

Also features Linen and Petite Patterns
I still miss Gable Green and Green Galore, they were great limey greens.  Fun for little boy cards :)

Also features Wild Hearts and Print Pattern
And here's a baby girl card.  You untie the ribbon at the top and use it to pull out the insert from inside the sleeve:

I also miss Orchid Opulence and Cool Caribbean, though Coastal Cabana is totally wonderful :)  What can I say, I just love colors.

Also features Bundle of Joy
You know that the baby books would make an appearance!  That's it for the Flashback, here's today's brand-new card:

I raided my scrap box for a couple of complementary patterns and I love these colors together:  Lavender Lace (retired), Regal Rose (retired), and Pumpkin Pie (not retired).  Just for funsies, I dusted off my Watercolor Wonder Crayons and went to town on that stamped image.  I have a friend who just found out she's having a girl (she has a 2-year-old boy and was hoping for a girl this time) so she'll be getting this card and a pair of baby booties before we move, which is fast approaching.

Thanks for joining me for this week's Friday Flashback, cheers peeps!

Supplies, last card only:
Stamps:  Baby Talk
Ink:  Versamark
Paper:  Lavender Lace, Whisper White, DSP scraps from Flowers for You, Love Sparkles SSK, and Pumpkin Pie DSP

Friday Flashback: Best Yet

Happy Friday and welcome to this week's Friday Flashback!  Today's featured stamp set du jour is Best Yet, a cute little set of six greeting stamps that was a hostess set back in 2008.  I thought the Splitcoast gallery for this set would be pretty small since usually cards get filed under the name of the image (i.e. flowers or whatever) rather than the name of the sentiment set, but if you click that link, the Best Yet gallery is huge!  So let's flash back.

Made this for hubs for our anniversary one year : )  The grass is from Inspired By Nature.

That was a weird sketch challenge, lemme tell ya, and it was before circle Framelits but I tried to get it to look right.  I love this sentiment stamp to make cards for babies or little kids.  The flowers are from Eastern Blooms, and the background is my favorite Bella Toile.

Eastern Blooms again and another baby card.  And every color on this card is retired except for the white.  Harrumph.

And this was a first birthday card for the daughter of a friend.  It matched the colors in the outfit I got her, which included a tutu because what one-year-old girl doesn't need a tutu?

How about a cool blue and white Christmas card?  The Scandinavian Season Christmas tree was stamped with Bashful Blue craft ink (retired, wah!) and embossed with Iridescent Ice for some sparkle.

Ooookay so that "little someone" stamp definitely wins for most used in this set, right?  The bear is from Bundle of Joy, awesome baby set.

And here's today's card:

Lemme just pat myself on the back for coming up with that color combo:  Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana, Rich Razzleberry, and a bit of Midnight Muse (I tend to use any really dark color kinda like a neutral).  The flowers are from Bodacious Bouquet (another longtime fave) and I lightly sponged the flower panel with some Pink Pirouette ink to make the bit with the sentiment stand out a little bit more.

The sketch is from Retro Sketches:

I LOVE this sketch.

So that's it for me today, I kinda want to go start on another scrapbook layout.  I've already got probably four or five layouts done that I haven't even shared here yet, I'm on a roll!  Thanks for stopping by today and have a great weekend!

Supplies, last card only:
Stamps:  Best Yet, Bodacious Bouquet
Ink:  Coastal Cabana, Strawberry Slush, Rich Razzleberry, Pink Pirouette
Paper:  Coastal Cabana, Midnight Muse, Whisper White, Strawberry Slush DSP

CreativeCrew: It's a Shower

We're just making it a scrappy week here at Snapdragon, because this week's CreativeCrew project is also scrappy.

The pics are from my friend Tiana's baby shower before her first daughter arrived; I had fun playing with the bright colors and of course I had to put that giraffe on here.  Tiana and I used that giraffe on Emma's baby announcements so I think of them every time I see it :)

Thanks for stopping by today!  Don't forget to check out the CreativeCrew challenges here and the gallery here.

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Mosaic Madness, Cuddles & Kisses, Bundle of Joy (retired)
Ink:  Island Indigo, Pumpkin Pie, Strawberry Slush, Baked Brown Sugar

Friday Flashback: Bundled in Love

Happy Friday!  Welcome to this week's Friday Flashback, featuring Bundled in Love.  This is a super-cute baby set and it's also got a companion set, Bundle of Joy.  I love to use those two sets together, the moon & stars stamp from Bundle of Joy is a great lil background :)  So let's Flashback!

This was an idea for a baby shower invite for my friend Sarah (I know last week's Flashback was baby themed and featured projects for Sarah too, that is completely coincidental as I pick out stamp set names at random.  As in, for reals, I have a big plastic container full of paper slips with stamp set names on them, which my mom thought was funny and OCD).  Our friend Tiana was planning Sarah's shower before we knew she was having a boy, so we were going for bright colors but more gender-neutral.  We ended up going with something else but I thought this was cute.

Tiana loves both these stamp sets and we used them for her baby announcements for both her girls (her older daughter's announcement featured the giraffe from Bundle of Joy, these are the ones for her younger daughter).

And here's a layout from Baby Girl #2's baby book.  And here's today's brand new card!

Seems like most mamas I know are having boys right now but I wanted to use this week's Dynamic Duo so a girl baby card it is!  The bunny shows up better IRL than she looks in the picture, perhaps I should have stamped her in darker ink to make her stand out more.  And crud, looks like I missed the challenge deadline on this one.  Oh well.

I stuck like glue to the color challenge, the only other color I used at all was Very Vanilla.  The sketch is this week's awesomely fantastic Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge:

I think I wanna go make another card with this sketch because I'm kind of in love with it.

Did you notice that giant shiny new badge in the right sidebar?  I'm gonna be on the Nacho design team starting in September, woot woot!  Super excited about that :)

Y'all have a lovely weekend!  Tomorrow I'm going down to London to meet up with my pal Vicki, so yay!!

Stamps:  Bundled in Love
Ink:  Sahara Sand, Pink Pirouette
