Shamrockin'

Mornin' y'all!  While I had ideas for cards yesterday, I also decided that it was the perfect day to watch Raiders of the Lost Ark and work on my current stitching project : )  I had just listened to The Soundtrack Show podcasts about the music from Raiders and couldn't resist watching the movie again.  I do love Indiana Jones and Daphne watched with me, so I'm pretty sure I am stitching some of her hair into my project but that just gives it extra character.

Anyway, I did also make a couple of cards, including one to share today:

This one came together super quickly too, I had the DSP scrap and the strip of gold foil already in my stash and making the tag took hardly any time at all.  I think what took the longest was figuring out the ribbon and gold twine to top the tag and even that didn't take very long.  I used this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

And the most recent Color Hues challenge:

I think I need to revisit this one and do a Baylor bears card :)  I used all Shy Shamrock for my green, with ink, cardstock, and DSP, and I have four gold items:  gold foil paper, gold ribbon, gold cord, and gold dots.  I think I hit the mark on this one, ha!

The other card I made is for a future Nancy Drew challenge and I really like it.  I have been speeding through the books so I'm trying to catch up with making my cards and I'm already a couple of weeks ahead, I love doing that.  Another thing I love?  I *finally* got Ryan interested in watching Star Wars with me.  We're partway through Empire Strikes Back right now and he wants to watch even if we only have 10-15 minutes.  Not my favorite way to watch a movie, but at least he's interested...it only took nine years!

Just finished my tea and I think Daphne knows that, she's starting to nose at me to take her for a walk.  Cheers!

A Lucky Sketch for The Paper Players

Happy Sunday, y'all, and that means it's time for a new Paper Players challenge!  Check out this wonderful sketch from Jaydee:

I personally don't like making slimline cards (I know, I'm weird) so I modified the sketch for a standard A2 card and here's what I made:

Ryan asked why I made a St. Patrick's Day card when we haven't even gotten to Valentine's Day yet and the answer is I'm a rebel and I do what I want, and also this rainbow paper popped into my head one night as I was settling down to sleep and I just had to make it.  I did think about snowflakes or hearts or teacups, but the shamrocks and rainbow background won out this time.  I added some gold accents for the lucky leprechaun who gets this card in the mail.  I used Shaded Spruce ink for the darker shamrocks, which are showing up darker in the photo than they do IRL, they're lovely dark green.  I think I inked up my Shaded Spruce ink pad in the not so distant past so it's stamping extra dark at the moment.

Check out the other design team creations on the Paper Players blog, or you can hop through their individual blogs:

Luck & Love

Top o' the mornin' to ye!  Okay, enough with the pretend Irish accent for today but guess what holiday is featured on today's cards.  Ha.

I was inspired to go green today by the Festive Friday challenge:

I used green (lots of green!), gold embellishments, shamrocks, rainbows, and a good luck sentiment.  And here's the sketch from Try a Sketch on Tuesday:

Obviously I decided to stick with the shamrocks depicted on the sketch.  Actually, I had started out by dusting off my old Pinch Proof stamp set, and then remembered that I had gotten Lucky Clover last year (the year before, maybe?) when it was offered at a discount (unfortunately, after the coordinating punch was sold out...okay I had been doing well with resisting buying it at all until it went on sale, that phrase is like kryptonite).  Anyway, I had already stamped a couple of images from Pinch Proof, and since I had the two triangular pieces of the rainbow paper still, I decided to make a second card:

And here they both are together:

Cheers, y'all!  Hope your day is filled with good luck and rainbows.
