Funny Faces

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  We had a pretty relaxing weekend and yesterday I got to watch The Secret of NIMH snuggled up with Ryan and Daphne.  One of Ryan's monthly homework assignments is to write a compare/contrast paragraph of a book adapted into a movie, and it just happened that he was reading Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH at the beginning of the month so that worked out well.  I'd never seen the movie before so that was fun.  It's on Amazon Prime if you're curious.

I'm still working through pics from our Berlin trip in 2021 and today's layout is just fun.

Ryan has always made a huge variety of funny faces and is not shy about mugging for pictures.  I ordered our Christmas cards on Saturday and one of this year's funny faces will make an appearance : )  The hubs cracked up when he saw the picture, apparently I hadn't shown it to him when I took it this summer.  Anyway, I had a whole stack of funny face pictures from this trip so of course they had to go on a layout together.

Once again, I pulled the Call Me Clover color from the previous layouts (the Berlin Zoo layouts here) and used it as my page base, along with Night of Navy, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry, and white.  I had a good time making this one.

That's it for now, peeps.  I've got to take Daph for a walk and then I have to make some phone calls, ugh.  Wish me luck, I hate calling people.  Cheers, y'all!

Berlin Zoo

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  The hubs is off work today which always makes my schedule go wonky but that's okay.  We walked Ryan to school this morning and walked Daph at the same time, then I cleaned up some things in the house when we got back and here it is almost 11 and I never really had breakfast.  Okay so I may have grabbed a couple of pieces of Halloween candy but whatever.

Anyway, I have another pair of Berlin layouts to share today and I quite like how they turned out!

Hey look, I spy Hedwig in the upper right corner!  They really do have some very nice zoos in Germany, I know we went to at least one other one in a different city, Köln maybe, I can't remember offhand.  The enclosures all look really nice and we got good views of a lot of animals.

Pandas and seals and hippos and polar bears, oh my!  Not to mention mountain goats.  These layouts are similar to some older ones I made for a visit to the Fort Worth Zoo; Crumb Cake page base plus a bright green seems to work really well for zoo pics.

Today's color palette:  Crumb Cake, Call Me Clover, Shaded Spruce, Merry Merlot, Early Espresso, and white.  I pulled the Merry Merlot and Crumb Cake from the first Berlin layouts I did, and for the one after these two I pulled the green, which you'll see next week.  I think it helps several layouts from one trip flow together without having to use the same colors on everything, and I used the same alphabet stamps for the page titles...well, I used Schoolbook Serif on the first layout, and I used it again here plus Brushwork Alphabet, and I think for the other ones I used both alphabets together.  We'll see.

Anyway, time for me to write out this week's cards and go feed some mailboxes.  Cheers, y'all!

Berlin

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Been a busy morning so far, I did my first workout since my appendix violated the Geneva Conventions, got Ryan off to school, did the grocery shopping, washed dishes, and finally ate breakfast at 10:30 this morning.  Still have quite a few things to do today (write in some cards to mail, do laundry, etc.) but the first thing I'll do is take Daphne out for a walk when I finish this blog post.

Another fun thing about today:  it's Daphne's gotcha day!  One year ago today, I talked the hubs into going to the animal shelter "just to look" and then he acted all surprised when we brought a terrified and pathetic little pupper home.  I think he should be more surprised that I haven't seriously tried to talk him into getting a second doggo, ha!

Anyway, on to Scrappy Monday.  I have a pair of layouts to share.

When we lived in England for 3 1/2 years, we somehow never went to Berlin, so it was on my list of things to do while we lived in Germany.  We took the train and spent several days exploring; the very first thing I wanted to do was see the famous bust of Nefertiti at the Egyptian Museum of Berlin.  No pictures allowed of her but I did take some other ones in the museum.

Our hotel was close to Checkpoint Charlie (which now has a McDonald's right next to it) and we all highly enjoyed the spy museum, so much that we forgot to take pics in there.  Ryan's favorite thing, predictably, is talking us into getting dessert at as many different places as possible.

Today's color palette:  Bravo Burgundy/Merry Merlot, Cranberry Crisp, Not Quite Navy, Crumb Cake, and Very Vanilla.  I really like the two shades of red together, the dark page base and lighter mats on the photos.  One of these days I will start scrapping again...and I have so many pictures I need to sort and print!

Okay, Daphne is getting most insistent that I escort her daily perambulation.  Cheers!

Having a Grand Time in Texas

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  This is our last Monday in Texas, so I thought I'd share a Texas layout from right before we moved to Germany in 2020.

This one goes right next to my Fort Worth Zoo layout, so I kept the Crumb Cake page base and changed up the supporting colors.  And I went punny for my title because this is mostly pictures of Ryan with his grandparents.

Today's color palette:  Crumb Cake, Mango Melody, Shaded Spruce, and Gorgeous Grape, with some Whisper White but I didn't put that in the palette for some reason.  I got to sneak in a bit of purple because I was wearing a purple shirt in one photo : )

Have a great day, peeps!

Alma Mater

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Well, I didn't finish the journaling on those scrapbook pages on Friday...but I did get it done yesterday : )  Sometime this week, I'll have to take pictures of eleven scrapbook layouts for future blog posts.  Whee!

Today is Ryan's last Monday in first grade, ack!  He's got fun things going on every day this week and Thursday is his last day.  Then on Friday we're heading down to Waco for a promotion event for a friend, which will be held at our alma mater, Baylor University.  Which is why I picked this layout to share today:

These pics are from 2013, hubs was deployed so I went back to Texas for a couple of weeks around my birthday and my parents took me on a day trip to Baylor.  Usually I'm trying to cram in as many pictures as I possibly can but today it's just four, so I kept the layout simple and left some open space, which helps balance out the busy pattern I used on the edges.

Today's Bayloriffic color palette is Soft Succulent, Evening Evergreen, and So Saffron.  I bought a bright yellow dress to wear to the event this Friday, can't wait!

Okay, time to hustle Ryan off to school.  Cheers!

Deal Castle

Scrappy Monday, y'all! I got home from Paris last night, it was a fun trip.  My friend Krissy and I visited the Musée d'Orsay, took the metro everywhere and saw Sacré Cœur, the Arc de Triomphe, and the Eiffel Tower, plus did some shopping, eating, and met some Parisian pooches.  Fun!

Now for today's scrapbook layout.

You can see the original pics here.  Deal Castle was the last one we visited in Kent, and that pic on the bottom right is from Lullingstone Roman Villa--the only pic we took there, but it inspired me to use that tile patterned DSP on here and I love it.

Today's color palette includes Coastal Cabana, Terracotta Tile, Pretty Peacock, Garden Green, Basic Gray, and Whisper White.  I was surprised how well those colors went together for this!

Cheers, y'all!
