Shabby Thanks

Hey y'all, I'm finally here with today's card.  Ever since our AC went out, even though it was replaced on Tuesday, I'm just having a hard time finding the motivation to get down in the craft cave and do some stamping.  But I'm going to keep trying.

I kicked around ideas for today's card while I was at the grocery store (anyone else love Wegmans as much as I do?) and this is what I made when I got home.  After I put up groceries and ate an entire container of watermelon chunks, because that's how I roll.

I used this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

And the Color Throwdown color challenge:

Ya know what, a frozen banana split skewer like that sounds pretty darn good right now.  Anyway, for my SU! colors I used Chocolate Chip, So Saffron, Real Red, and Crumb Cake.

When I first stamped the flower (the one on the far right was the first one) I figured out pretty quick that my Real Red ink pad was way too juicy, so I squished it with a plastic spoon to work the ink in a bit more and tried it again (middle flower).  Still not quite where I wanted it, but instead of going back at the ink pad with the spoon, I just inked up the stamp again but this time I made sure to only tap it lightly on the ink pad (far left).  Just what I wanted!  I needed that shabby texture to show up on the flower so it would go with the center panel that I hit up with Timeless Textures.

That's it for me today, y'all.  See you back here tomorrow for the Friday Flashback!  Oh wait, one more thing:  if you look really closely at the stamps in Flower Shop, one of the petals has an extra little divot in it (look at the bottom petal, towards the right side).  That's the only one with two divots on the stamp and the matching punch, so today I finally gave my stamps a close examination and put a mark with a Sharpie on the bottom of the stamp that coordinates with that petal, which also happens to be the bottom one on the punch (and I marked my punch too).  Definitely makes it easier to tell which way to punch out the flowers!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Flower Shop, One Big Meaning, Timeless Textures
Ink:  Real Red, So Saffron, Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip
Paper:  Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Thick Whisper White
Accessories:  Pansy punch, Dimensionals

Nachos: Cherry on Top Butterfly

Happy Tuesday, Nacho fans!  Are you ready for another great sketch?  Here's this week's Nacho Average Sketch Challenge!

I thought the two smaller circle elements were just begging for punched images so that's what I did.

And yet again I used the Cherry on Top DSP stack...it's the only current DSP I have right now :)  But I still like it, so hopefully I won't get totally sick of it before I acquire some more DSP.  Anyway, I pulled out some oldies for the butterfly and flower and used a recent My Paper Pumpkin stamp for the sentiment.  Uh, I've never actually put together a Paper Pumpkin kit, but I do use the stamps :D

Don't forget to post your own creation on the Nacho blog.  Cheers, peeps!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Papillon Potpourri, Flower Shop, My Paper Pumpkin
Ink:  Watermelon Wonder, Bermuda Bay
Paper:  Watermelon Wonder, Bermuda Bay, Pool Party, Crushed Curry, Whisper White, Cherry on Top DSP

Nachos: Tangerine Hello

Howdy, peeps!  It is time once again for a Nacho Average sketch challenge, and here it is:

So you could do this super-clean and simple, or dress it up a bit like I did:

I chose some DSP that I juts love and used the Hello You Thinlits to cut out a "hello" from Tangerine Tango cardstock so the DSP would show through.  I think this card is a little brighter and more sunshiney IRL :)  Ironically, today is the only day in about the past two weeks that we're expecting to get thunderstorms.

It's your turn now!  Go check out the other lovelies on the Nacho blog and post your own creation there.  Cheers, peeps!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Flower Shop, Crazy About You
Ink:  Blushing Bride, Tangerine Tango
Paper:  Crushed Curry, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White, Flowerpot DSP
Accessories:  Hello You Thinlits, Pansy punch, Best Year Ever Accessories pack buttons, Dimensionals

Hardwood Floral Thanks

Apparently I'm on a floral kick this week.

I got dinner in the oven last night and figured I might have time to make a card while dinner was baking, so this is the card that resulted.  I started with the colors from As You See It:

Just the names of those colors make me hungry.  Actually, we went to a friend's house for dinner Sunday and there was a fruit platter that included strawberries and blackberries, both of which I sampled, and I'd brought cookies that had vanilla, so....I actually did eat things inspired by this color challenge too : )

Anyway, lots going on today with the delivery of our household goods (yay!) so that's it for me.  Peace out!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Flower Shop, Petite Petals, Hardwood, Lots of Thanks
Ink:  Sahara Sand, Strawberry Slush, Blackberry Bliss
Paper:  Strawberry Slush, Blackberry Bliss, Very Vanilla

Tangelo Twist

Hellooooo in blogland!  Hubs and I just got back from a 10-day trip...a Baltic cruise with an extra day in Copenhagen...so this is the first time I've stamped in about two weeks.  It's kinda slow getting back into it at first, ya know?  But here's what I've got.

I realized that the *only* new In Color I hadn't really done anything with yet was Tangelo Twist, so here ya go.  I paired it with Daffodil Delight and Blackberry Bliss; I think this color combo could be fun for fall cards, but now Gently Falling is retired....so I wonder what kind of fall stamps we'll have this year?  Guess we'll find out in a couple of months.  But hey, we've got a brand new catty to play with in the meantime!

Anyway, I used the latest sketch from Freshly Made:

I keep forgetting that no matter which way I turn that one stamp from Gorgeous Grunge, the stripes still point the same direction.  Oh well.  I've got to get back to cleaning up the house and getting ready for the packers to arrive next week : p

Cheers, peeps!

Hey Sunshine

Ya know what, I love me some bright, sunny colors, and that's just what this week's Splitcoast color challenge was.  So here's what I made with them:

Bright and cheery, huh?  I like it.  I raided my giant box o' scraps for the background pieces; I just looked until I found three different Old Olive patterns, and yay for using up some scraps.  I think I know who I'm going to give this to...since we're moving soon, I was thinking about giving several of my friends here some cards before I leave just to say hey, you're awesome, and I'm glad you are a part of my life.

It's been a while since I last played in the As You See It challenges, but I did like their sketch this week:

It's getting close to the wire before the challenge closes but I made it :)

Thanks for stopping by today, friends!  Have a lovely Wednesday.

Celebrate Today

Today we're celebrating Perfectly Penned (sniffle!) and En Francais, which are both on the retiring list.

Actually, the Flower Shop bundle (stamp set plus matching punch) is on the list too, but only because they won't be available bundled together in the new catalog; you'll still be able to get them separately.  That larger flower punch is retiring altogether, though.

I used the sketch from Create with Connie and Mary for my card:

Looks like I missed a layer.  Oops.  This card also counts for the SUO Challenge to use flowers, no cheating on that one : )  I also used the new color challenge from ColourQ:

There should be more color challenges with Elegant Eggplant.  And also Garden Green, because it's my favorite green but it's never on color challenges (or DSP) so I'm kinda scared that SU! is going to retire it and I'm still sad that Baja Breeze is gone.  Problems, y'all.

Thanks for stopping by today and cheers, peeps!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Perfectly Penned, Flower Shop, En Francais
Ink:  Elegant Eggplant, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White
Paper:  Pear Pizzazz, Elegant Eggplant, Crumb Cake, Whisper White

Nachos: Happy Bouquet

It's Nacho day!  This week's Nacho Average Challenge is a sketch:

And here is my slightly liberal interpretation of the sketch, rotated 90 degrees to the left:

This all started because I had that "You make me happy" banner already stamped and cut out because it was supposed to go on another project and just didn't work, so then I thought heyyyy I can use it on this sketch!  So then I broke out three different flower stamp sets and coordinating punches and went to town.  And dude, Hardwood is making me love background stamps again.  I think I need to convert my backgrounds to unmounted--the retired background stamps are the only ones in my collection that are still wood-mounted.  Anyway.

Head on over to the Nacho blog to see what the rest of the design team has in store for you and then get yo stamp on!  Cheers, peeps!
