A Pair of Vixens

Mornin' y'all!  I just finished putting all the things back in our china hutch and I even got out all my kokeshi dolls and put them out too.  They haven't been on display for the past couple of houses so it was fun to look at them all again : )  I might spread them out around the house but for now they're all in and on the china hutch.

I have two foxy cards to share today and actually they both went out in the mail yesterday.

I chose the sentiment from Nuts About Squirrels because a.) foxes have bushy tails too and b.) the crud is going around so this sentiment is seasonally appropriate.  I love this week's Inspired By... challenge:

I love that hot chocolate set, it's darling.  I did a reverse image search on Google but I can't find anywhere that it's for sale, sadly.  Not that I need, it but it sure is cute!  I couldn't decide which of my fox images I wanted to use for my card today, so I made two because why not.

I seem to have this week's Freshly Made Sketch on the brain:

And even with the sketch sitting right in front of me on my phone screen, I still can't help playing around with the proportions of the three background strips.

It's time to take Daphne for her daily walk and then I'm sure there's something else I need to be doing around the house.  I already did the dishes though so maybe I'll be able to get some crafty time this afternoon.  Cheers, y'all!

March 2019

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  After a good start in January, I pretty much got nothing done in February for scrapbooking.  I spent most of last week with Ryan at home all day because of daycare issues and then our daycare provider quit entirely...here's hoping that we find a long-term solution to that soon.  Just need to make it to when school starts in August...

Anyway, I have a layout to share today that I made over a year ago now.

All pics are from March of 2019, this is another one of those layouts where I take the month's random snapshots and put them on one layout.

Today's palette:  Old Olive, Certainly Celery, Terracotta Tile, Chocolate Chip, and Whisper White.  I like the contrast of the Terracotta Tile accents with all that green :)

Okay, I'm going to try to make the most of my day off today.  I've got some packages to get ready to mail and some laundry to start (always laundry!) and then it's off to my craft room to do some work.  Cheers!

Ryan: Six Months

Hey hey, it's Saturday!  Despite the early wake-up yesterday, we had a good day (and a LOT of excellent Mexican food!).  I woke up at 5:30 this morning ready to start my day, so here we are with another layout from Ryan's baby book.

Some fun bright colors today!  Honestly when we did the monthly photo shoots, I chose Ryan's outfits (and toys, in this case) with an eye to future scrapbook pages.  I've said it before, and I'm sure I'll say it again, scrapping pictures with Ryan in them has involved a lot of bright colors and SO MUCH RED, a lot of baby clothes (boys' at least) have red on them.  But it's fun to work with different colors considering I'm still scrapping a lot of pictures of castles in Europe, and those involve a whole lotta gray ;)

So here is today's color palette:  Mango Melody, Calypso Coral, Lemon Lime Twist, Shaded Spruce, Blueberry Bushel, and Whisper White.  I have to hoard my Mango Melody 12x12 cardstock; since they never did a "new colors pack" of the bigger cardstock size for the last color refresh, I can only get Mango Melody in a pack with all the other Brights, so I only have a couple of pieces of it.  If they did single color packs of 12x12 again, I'd buy a metric ton of Balmy Blue and Shaded Spruce, and probably a half a ton of Mango Melody.  Then again, I've already established that I'm a cardstock hoarder :D

Cheers, y'all!

Friday Flashback: It's Your Birthday

Happy Friday, y'all!  We are currently prepping for Snowmageddon, which is slated to start this afternoon.  But in the meantime, I have a Friday Flashback for you!  Today's stamp set is It's Your Birthday, and who doesn't need a great set of birthday greetings?  In fact, I'd used this set so much that I only picked about half of what I had in my archives to share otherwise we'd still be doing this flashback *next* Friday.  So let's giddyup!

Also features Bronc Buster, Paisley
First is a birthday card I made for my brother a few years ago.

Also features Floral, Roses in Winter
And here's one for my mother's great aunt...

Also features Baroque Motifs, Embrace Life
Honestly I don't know who I sent this to, it's a rare square card.

Also features Bloomin' Beautiful
This "someone like you should be celebrated every day" stamp is done in the same font as the "happy birthday" above so you could use them together.  Or just use this one for a card and it doesn't have to be birthday-specific.

Also features Dream Gardens
I do love my Oriental stamps :)

Also features Pun Fun
Here's a cute little one I did for my mom, who loves hippos.

Also features Mixed Bouquet
I made this one for one of my favorite people in the world, who has sadly passed away.  Miss you, Neelu!

Also features Petal Prints
Let's be honest, this is one of my favorite cards.

Also features Wing It, Flannel Plaid
And one more kinda masculine card to round out the group.  Are you ready for today's new creation?  Here it is:

My friend Tiana (who doesn't read this blog, so I'm not giving away any birthday secrets) came out to visit at the beginning of the month and mentioned when we were out shopping that she wanted some super-soft comfy pajama pants.  And since her birthday is next week, I found her some ridiculously cute ones at Kohl's, they're black and have foxes on them and look kinda like this card :D  The jammies are more of a raspberry color than coral, but I only have Calypso Coral embossing powder so I went with that.  I loved these so much I ordered some for myself, and I also got her a set of Star Wars jammies because awesome.  The Star Wars ones have purple in them so this card kinda matches both.

Anyway, I used a sketch from the Retro Rubber challenge site, my very first time to play along over there!

If I got both It's Your Birthday and Fox & Friends when they first came out, then I've had It's Your Birthday for TEN years and Fox & Friends for 6.  And I still love them both :)

Ok, I'd better get moving before Snowmageddon starts.  Cheers, peeps!

Supplies, last card only:
Stamps:  It's Your Birthday, Fox & Friends
Ink:  Basic Black, Versamark
Paper:  Basic Black, Lavender Lace, Lucky Limeade & Calypso Coral DSP

Baby Books: September

Hey peeps!  Are you having a good Labor Day holiday?  We were caught by surprise this morning--the trash was running despite the holiday.  Really didn't expect that so the hubs had to run it out when we heard the truck coming down the way.

Anyway, enough about trash.  Let's talk baby books!  I'm hoping to finish the twin boy baby books I'm working on in the very near future (like, this week would be great) because I won't have much of a break before I start the next book.  So today I'm sharing a layout from the almost-done books :)

I mentioned in last week's Friday Flashback post that I'd done more or less the same layout for September quite a few times with the apples, so this time I did something different:  my old buddies from Fox & Friends.

Aren't they super cute?  Love them.

And ze turtle!  Love ze turtle.

And there's my color palette for this layout (which I duplicated for the second book, they're going to be identical books even though the boys are fraternal twins):  Old Olive, Hello Honey, Marina Mist, Cajun Craze, Chocolate Chip, and Very Vanilla.  And nary an apple in sight.

Cheers, peeps!

August Fox & Friends

I love Fox & Friends.  I think my SU! ladies do too, most of them bought it before it retired a while back.  Retired or not, Fox & Friends frequently shows up on baby book layouts :)

OH THE CUTENESS.  (The animals I mean, I'm not all like tooting my own horn about how cute the layout is.  But it is cute too.)  Now that Crushed Curry is back, I can quit hoarding the cardstock and actually use it.  I paired it with a Garden Green pattern from the retired Woodland Walk DSP (the advantage of having a giant retired paper stash, I found the perfect paper for this!  The disadvantage is having to move all that heavy, heavy paper every few years...) and then used Marina Mist and Baked Brown Sugar as my accent colors.  We've only had Baked Brown Sugar for like a hot minute and already I want it to join the full-time color lineup.  Get rid of that icky Soft Suede.

Uh, why don't they use Garden Green in more DSP?  It is my very favoritest green and green is my very favoritest color followed by purple and I just got the CAYOOOTEST art nouveau-style teapot combining those two favorite colors with silver (the best metallic) in a purple rose pattern.  Better yet?  It was marked 11 pounds and I got it for 5.  I didn't even haggle.

But I digress.  Back to the scrapbook layout.  I like it.  And that lion is fabulous in Crushed Curry.

Have a wonderful day!  That's an order :p
