Tea Mug

Mornin' y'all!  It has dropped like 40 degrees in the past couple of days so I am happily ensconced with a mug of tea (at least I was, I finished it...think I should brew another one!).  So that's tea in the mug on my card.

Having some fun with the new Latte Love stamp set : )  Check out the great layery sketch from the Paper Players:

And I couldn't resist the Inkspirational mood board:

I used Pool Party and Powder Pink for my two colors.  This card was my second attempt at these challenges, I made an Easter card but I just wasn't feeling it so I had to give it another go.

Anyway, I'm back to house hunting.  We're going to Colorado soon to start looking at houses for our upcoming move : )  Cheers, y'all!

Holy Cows!

Mornin' y'all!  I am still giggling a bit this morning from a conversation I had with Ryan after his TKD class yesterday.  He wanted to tell me all about George, Ben, Abe, and Eleanor, as if these are friends of his...ya know, George was the first president and also he was the father of the world (yeah the whole thing), and Ben lived somewhere else for a while (he was ambassador to France) and he sometimes published a newspaper with his brother's name on it and that made his brother mad.  Abe was the 16th president and he got shot (Ryan didn't remember anything else about Abe), and this other lady was first and she did a lot of stuff to make sure people got treated equally and could be safe at work and that women could vote (she sounds pretty rad, I was the one who remembered the name Eleanor).  And that is American history according to Ryan, where last names are totally unnecessary.  Ha!

Anyway, I was planning to share a different card today but this one just can't wait because it's so cute.

Yet another new stamp alert--Cutest Cows!  Umm, I went to town during Sale-a-Bration, I got lots of new schtuff to play with, and thanks to the challenge at Inspire. Create. I knew that Cutest Cows had to get inked up:

I kept the cow theme, a similar color combination, and dots, though I used the fun pattern from the Bright & Beautiful DSP Stack for my background--I love this pattern :)  I changed up the layout though because I wanted to use the sketch from Global Design Project:

Fun sketch, I like it!  And it was perfect to showcase two cows.  I used the coordinating cow punch for the top cow body and the bottom cow head, but the other pieces were snipped with scissors.  The cow punch is the one I forgot to put on my first big SAB order in January and gave me an excuse to make a second order earlier this month.  Fun fact:  my friend Chris almost got in trouble in French class one time for trying to say "holy cow" in French.  Turns out that one doesn't translate directly ; ) and was unintentionally close to cursing, though the teacher's reaction was pretty hilarious: one very loud, very shocked, very French OHH! and if she had been wearing pearls she totally would have clutched them.

Anyway, apparently I am just very amused today, hope you enjoyed the stories.  I'm going to watch this week's NCIS and then go back up to my craft room for some more fun while Ryan is at school.  It's a tough life, I know.  Cheers!

Finding Inspiration with SUO Challenges

Good morning stampy friends!  Are you ready for a new challenge from SUO Challenges?  Because it's that time again :)

Here's the challenge:

And if you want a closeup of the inspiration pic:

Fun, right?  Now, you don't *have* to us the Perennial Lavender suite for your card...but I did.  Here's what I made:

I CASEd the layout of this card from Mary Fish (see her card here) but while she went for a bold, graphic style, I decided to do ink blending and glimmer paper.  I blended Orchid Oasis and Fresh Freesia ink on my background panel, then flicked a bit of water on it and if I had been looking at the inspo pic when I stuck things down, I would have rotated the panel so the Orchid Oasis was on top like the colors of the drink in the photo.  The glimmer paper I used was from last year's catalog and it's ombre, so I cut out several lavender sprigs and made sure I got a variety of shades on there.  I chose this fun Lemon Lolly stripey paper for my background as a nod to the lemon in the inspo pic, plus it's just such a cheery backdrop for all the purples.  Not gonna lie, this is one of my favorite cards ever!

Don't forget to head over to the SUO Challenges blog to see what the rest of the design team did with this inspiration pic, and then we want to see what you make of it.  Have fun!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Perennial Lavender, Softly Sophisticated
Ink:  Orchid Oasis, Fresh Freesia
Paper:  Orchid Oasis, Thick Basic White, Glimmer Paper, Lighter than Air DSP Stack

Saying Goodbye to Sadie

Yesterday was a very hard day for my friend Krissy, who had to unexpectedly say goodbye to her dog Joplin.  I am doing my best to support her in her grief because Krissy's dogs are her babies and I totally understand that.  I ordered a small memorial gift that will be delivered today and I will be sending her many cards in the mail, since that's pretty much all I can do from two states away.

So today I'm sharing my scrapbook layout from when we said goodbye to our own girl, Sadie, nearly four years ago when she was 14 years old.

Man, this was a tough layout to make, but I am glad I have it for my furbabies' scrapbook.  The two pictures on the bottom right were taken just two days before Sadie passed.  I chose that multicolored washy background because it reminded me of a low-key Rainbow Bridge for my girl.  I miss her and Vader still every day, but we are looking forward to adopting a dog or two after we move again this summer.  I miss having furbabies.

I used black for my page base, Cherry Cobbler to match Sadie's collar, and the other colors are in the watercolor wash background, Misty Moonlight, Blushing Bride, and So Saffron.

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Back to Basics Alphabet, Happy Tails
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Misty Moonlight, Basic Black marker
Paper:  Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Misty Moonlight, Thick Basic White, Sand & Sea DSP
Accessories:  Dog Builder Punch

Thinking of Botanicals

Hey y'all, surprise Sunday post :)  I made a couple of cards on Friday and I need to get one of them posted now before the challenge closes out, so here it is:

And here is the Inspired By... challenge:

The stamp set I used, Botanical Layers, was one of the new additions to the Sale-a-Bration rewards in February (hope you got it already because it's now out of stock until the middle of March).  I'll be honest, I would not have gotten this stamp set at all except it was free, not that there's anything wrong with it but it wasn't on my wish list.  But I thought I'd give it a go when I saw this inspiration pic, specifically the vase in the upper left corner.  I chose a couple of stamps and two greens, stamped them directly on my card base, and then punched out the oval shape and blended on a bit of Smoky Slate ink and used that as my container for the plants.  I decided it needed some "ground" so I used a Stampin' Blend to add a shadow on the bottom of the card and then I had to do another oval because it looked sloppy :p  Anyway, this is not my favorite card in the history of ever, but it's okay, and I'm willing to give Botanical Layers another shot sometime in the future.

That's it for me today, peeps.  I've got some laundry in the washer and I need to convince the child to clean up more of his mess in the living room, wish me luck.  Cheers!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Botanical Layers
Ink:  Garden Green, Soft Sea Foam, Smoky Slate, Smoky Slate Blend
Paper:  Thick Basic White
Accessories:  Modern Oval punch

CAS Steggy

Hey y'all, happy Friday.  I am particularly chuffed with myself because finally, at long last, I started my wedding scrapbook yesterday!  Okay, so I had kind of mapped out what I wanted to do last week and sorted through pictures, but yesterday I actually STUCK THINGS DOWN.  I'm starting with all the professional pictures we had, so the album is going to be very, very simple and should go quickly now that I've started.  Then I have a large stack of other pics that will go in a different album.  But at least I've started!!!

Anyway, my card today features a happy little dinosaur.

I used the sunny colors from Global Design Project:

I needed some more dinosaur cards for my dino-loving pal Krissy, so the Cupcake Inspirations challenge was perfect:

Plus it's always fun to bust out Dino Days again, even if it is long retired.  I'm hoping to have time to make some more dino cards next week, it would be nice to have a stash.

That's it for me today, y'all.  Have a great Friday!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Dino Days
Ink:  Flirty Flamingo, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight
Paper:  Thick Basic White
Accessories:  Dino dies, Stylish Shapes dies (used a square as a mask), Dimensionals, Shiny Sequins

Daisy Bouquet

Mornin' y'all!  We had a bit of an adventure yesterday--I asked Ryan to take some cards out to the mailbox for me, and he announced that there was a dog wandering around the neighborhood.  Said doggo was a very large German Shepherd boy who quickly invited himself into our house.  He ended up staying with us for several hours until animal control came to pick him up at 8:30 last night; he does have a microchip, so I hope he will be reunited with his people today.  He was a pretty well-behaved doggo, though so large that he made Ryan a bit nervous (I would bet that dog weighs more than 100 pounds).  So that was our adventure yesterday!

Anyway, I have a sweet little card to share today with yet another new stamp set : )

Inspirational Sketches was an impulse buy, I think I used reward money on one of my recent orders to acquire it.  The other images include a lovely bird and some fungi, plus some nice sentiments, but I went with these daisies (?) for today's card.  Check out this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

And as usual, I paired their sketch with the Color Throwdown:

I used just a smidgen of Pale Papaya for the peach color, then Lemon Lolly and a mix of Lemon Lime Twist and Granny Apple Green for the green.  It wasn't too difficult to fussy cut my bouquet, and I found a couple of soft patterns in the Bright & Beautiful DSP Stack for my quilt-inspired layers.  Three shiny sequins and done!

Okay, it's time to get Ryan off to school.  Maybe this afternoon will be a bit calmer, though it was fun to have a doggo in the house again, even temporarily.  Cheers, peeps!

Smiling Crocodile

Hey y'all, I'm still hanging in here with this cold that just won't leave.  I'm lots better than I was over the weekend, but still definitely not operating at full capacity.

Anyway, I did make a couple of cards yesterday and for this one I busted out a Sale-a-Bration stamp set:

He's kinda cute, right?  I kept it nice and CAS for the Paper Players challenge:

And I also used the inspo list from Festive Friday:

I chose blue, pink, and embossing from the list.  My greeting ended up a bit crooked but I'm going to blame that one the DayQuil.  Just a quick, cute little card for today.

Okay, I think I might need some couch time before I go upstairs to work in my craft room today.  Cheers, y'all!

Cozy Quilt Trio

Okay what day is it today???  I finally feel like I'm emerging from the cold-induced zombie stupor and I got Ryan off to school today and now I need to deal with the tornado situation he perpetrated in the living room while I wasn't feeling well over the long weekend.  It's pretty bad in there.

But first, I have a set of cards to share!

After seeing the latest Inspired By... challenge, I had to try out the other die in the Patchwork Pieces set.

I see some Calypso Coral in that inspo pic, and that led me to pick the Sale-a-Bration DSP Softly Stippled.  This particular die has 12 openings, so you could have a nicely symmetrical design with 2, 3, 4, or 6 different colors/patterns.  I decided to go with three patterns and then chose sentiments from three different new stamp sets just for funsies.  A few Opaque Faceted Gems and I have three more cards in my stash!

Okay, I'm off to go do...something...productive.  I'm glad that I'm feeling better than I was for the last couple of days, and Ryan was pretty good about letting me rest when I needed to.  So now I need to start tackling the things that fell by the wayside for the last several days.  Cheers, y'all, and stay healthy!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Thoughtful Expressions, Lovely & Sweet, Perennial Postage
Ink:  Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Wild Wheat

Bacharach

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Man, with Ryan being off school last Friday and today, and then me catching some kinda virus, I'm losing track of what day it is.  Forgot to put the trash out last night and to my surprise, they did pick up this morning, so I guess it'll just have to wait until next week.

Anyway!  We had Ryan's taco fiesta on Saturday and it was good--there were 19 people here and that was just close family.  Ryan had a great time and that's the first time we've had all his family over to celebrate a birthday for him.  And then yesterday he was very nice to me while I was totally out of commission with this cold thing I have.  Maybe it's just the DayQuil talking, but I'm feeling better today.

So, on to Scrappy Monday!  I chose one of my more recent layouts to share:

Bacharach is a small town on the banks of the Rhine and honestly it looks like it could be the setting for a live-action adaptation of Pinocchio.  This was one of our first day trips in Germany in the fall of 2020.  Because of those beautiful flowers in the focal point photo, I busted out the Delightful Floral DSP that's an Online Exclusive on the SU! website.  I didn't buy the coordinating Translucent Floral stamp set so I just cut some flowers out of one of the patterns and used the nice green wash for my page borders.  The page base might look black, but it's Blackberry Bliss--I almost never manage to use purple for my page bases so I'm chuffed when I work it in.

The colors are taken straight from the DSP except for Terracotta Tile, but I thought it looked good with the flowers that are supposedly Calypso Coral.  And Tempting Turquoise isn't in the paper either, but it matched the color of my fleece in the photos.  So the color palette is Blackberry Bliss, Lemon Lime Twist, Granny Apple Green, Berry Burst, Lemon Lolly, Terracotta Tiel, Tempting Turquoise, and white.  Pretty much a full rainbow today.

Have a great day, y'all.

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Alphabet Antiques Upper & Lower
Ink:  Blackberry Bliss
Paper:  Blackberry Bliss, Lemon Lolly, Berry Burst, Granny Apple Green, Terracotta Tile, Tempting Turquoise, Thick Basic White, Delightful Floral DSP

Purple Submarine

Hey y'all, what a week it's been.  Valentine's Day/hubby's birthday, Ryan's birthday, the thing with the stuffie in the light fixture...and now I think I'm getting sick.  I hope it passes really quickly because we're supposed to have a taco fiesta for Ryan's birthday this weekend.

Anyway, I continue my quest to play with All The New Things and today I'm singing "We all live in a.."

PURPLE submarine!  I couldn't resist this fun color challenge from Just Add Ink:

And this was a great time to use the Patchwork Pieces dies that I just got, too.  And since mixing the patterns means I have supplies for two cards, well...

We could also choose to live in a yellow submarine ; )  When Ryan was really little, sometimes he would get upset and I could calm him down by singing Yellow Submarine.  He also liked the Beach Boys' Good Vibrations.  Anyway, both of my sub cards were quick to put together and it was fun to play with the new punch and dies.  A few Tahitian Tide pearls completed my cards.

Okay, I'm going to go crawl back in bed for a little bit and hope that I feel better this afternoon.  Cheers, y'all!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Submarine Life
Ink:  Gorgeous Grape, Gray Granite, Daffodil Delight
Paper:  Gorgeous Grape, Thick Basic White, Tahitian Tide DSP

Friendly Doggos

Mornin' y'all!  Guess what?  Today is Ryan's SEVENTH birthday!  He's growing so much, so fast.  He's got two giant teeth coming in where he'd lost his front two teeth, and he's gotten so tall that one of the people at his martial arts studio thought he was turning 8 rather than 7.  So for today he gets to bring in cookies for snack time at school, and after his taekwondo class tonight I promised to take him to dinner anywhere he wants to go (he says hibachi).  On Saturday, we're having all the fam over for tacos and ice cream cake : )

Anyway, I have another new stamp making its debut here today and I don't know what took me so long to ink this one up because I LOVE IT!

All the doggos!!!!  I know exactly who's getting this card too, definitely my friend Krissy who might possibly love doggos even more than I do, which is saying a lot.  Anyway, I kept this simple and just stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black on Crumb Cake cardstock, and then used a blender pen to add just a smidgen of color.  It's Tongues Out Tuesday somewhere.

Check out this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

And the Color Throwdown:

I used Real Red, Crumb Cake, white, and black for my card.  I was actually looking for my Sweetest Cherries stamp set when Doggone Friendly caught my eye and I knew I had to use that instead.

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Doggone Friendly, Biggest Wish
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Real Red, Crumb Cake
Paper:  Crumb Cake, Basic Black, Thick Basic White, Much Adored DSP
Accessories:  Stylish Shapes dies, linen thread, Dimensionals

And now the conclusion to yesterday's wayward stuffie story!  If you missed it, Ryan was giving his duck stuffie, Peking, "flying lessons" and Peking went off course and landed in a light fixture that is way too high for us to reach.  So my dad came over yesterday morning, took one look at the situation and said "Nope!" so we called the fire department.

Fifteen minutes later, three firefighters showed up and studied the situation.

Then they busted out the big guns...er, big ladder...

And succeeded in reaching Peking's landing spot.

Of course I took pictures for future scrapbook pages : D  Ryan was very excited to have his ducky sidekick back yesterday afternoon, and he'll be writing a thank you letter to the fire department.  A happy ending for Ryan and Peking, and hopefully he'll stick to lower altitudes going forward.  Ha!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day, y'all!  And happy birthday to my hubs, my favorite Valentine : )  Since he's still on deployment, I'll just have to celebrate Heart Day with Ryan, my favorite ice cream date.  So here's the card I made for Ryan:

The Share a Milkshake bundle always makes me think of an old-fashioned diner/soda fountain kind of place, which makes me think of George McFly in the 1955 era of the first Back to the Future movie and I totally just tried to type BAKE to the Future.  Anyway, I was inspired by the fun sketch from Retro Rubber:

Share a Milkshake is one year old so it just barely counts as retro, and I confess I used a brand new background stamp on here, how do you like Drizzling Droplets?  I had already cut the DSP for the card when I got the idea to stamp Drizzling Droplets on the patterned paper and I just had to do it.  I think the most retro things on my card are the glitter enamel dots!  They're from when Berry Burst was an In Color so they're definitely retro.

I used the sweet color combo from the Paper Players:

And since I made this a Valentine for my kiddo, I'm entering in the Inspire. Create. challenge:

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Share a Milkshake, Drizzling Droplets
Ink:  Smoky Slate, Bubble Bath, Berry Burst
Paper:  Berry Burst, Thick Basic White, Bright & Beautiful DSP Stack
Accessories:  Share a Milkshake dies, Stylish Shapes dies, Dimensionals, Glitter Enamel Dots

That's it for cards today, but I do have a funny story to share.

Me, texting my dad at 9:30pm last night:  Um, I have a problem
Me: (pausing to move ladder)
Dad:  (already calling my phone because he's On The Ball)
Me:  Ryan and I are fine, we're safe.  But you know how this house has a light fixture in the entryway, where it's open up to the second floor?
Dad:  Yeeeaaahhh...

Me:  Well, Ryan likes to give Peking (his favorite duck stuffie) "flying lessons"...
Dad: (laughing) I think I see where this is going.
Ryan, from his room upstairs:  IT'S NOT FUNNY!!!!!!!!
Me:  So yeah, Peking is stuck in the light fixture.
Dad:  I'll come over there tomorrow morning and we'll figure out how to get him down.  If all else fails, we can call the fire department.
Me:  It's not a cat in a tree, it's a duck in a light fixture, ha.
Ryan:  PEEEEEEKIIIIIIINNNNG!

So yeah, this story doesn't have an ending yet, but figuring out how to get the duck out of the light fixture will be our entertainment this morning.  Wish us luck!

SUO Challenges: Favorite Florals

Hey hey y'all, it's time for a new challenge from SUO Challenges!

And our theme for this challenge is...

SU! always has a LOT of flower stamps, so we're excited to see what you come up with!  If I counted all my retired stamps, I could use a different floral stamp set every day for months for this challenge, but for this challenge, I had to use my favorite product suite from the Occasions catalog...

Oh yeah, I'm in love with the whole Perennial Lavender suite, it was the number one thing on my wish list when the Occasions catalog was released.  This time I used the Painted Lavender stamps and dies, Perennial Postage dies, and a couple of pieces from the January Paper Pumpkin kit that was designed to coordinate with the Perennial Lavender suite.  One of these days I'll branch out and try a few other colors with these stamps, but for now it's all about purple power : )

Can't wait to see what your favorite florals are!  Don't forget to upload your card at the SUO Challenges blog, and most important, have fun!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Painted Lavender
Ink:  Highland heather, Gorgeous Grape, Shaded Spruce
Paper:  Gorgeous Grape, Thick Basic White, Perennial Lavender DSP, January 2024 Paper Pumpkin kit
Accessories:  Painted Lavender dies, Perennial Postage dies, Dimensionals, Purple Fine Shimmer Gems, Wink of Stella

Ryan Turns 3

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Well, true to my word, I did start working on my wedding album on Friday.  So far it's just planning which pictures to use on each layout, but I've firmed up my color scheme and what papers I'm using, so once I get the pages planned out it should go very quickly.  Hopefully I start getting things stuck down in the next day or two.

Anyway, for today I have a couple of layouts from Ryan's birthday in 2020!

Y'all, he's turning SEVEN this Thursday!  Can't believe it.  Anyway, shortly before his third birthday he suddenly became a big fan of Paw Patrol so that made shopping for him very easy.  As I was working on my 2020 pages last year, I wondered if there were any Paw Patrol stamps out there, and as it happens there are!  I had to have them shipped to my mom and then she sent them to me as the seller wouldn't ship to an APO address, but I got them.  I'm a little sad that Ryan isn't much into Paw Patrol anymore, but what can ya do.

We took him to the local ice cream place which also makes very good cupcakes, and invited a few friends who have kids around Ryan's age so he had a great time.  His big present that year was a Nugget, which is a set of cushions that you can move around to make forts or use as a pallet in front of the TV or whatever.  He still likes playing with that.

Today's color palette is a variation on a Superman theme:  Barely Banana (I'm very glad to have Lemon Lolly in the current color lineup, it's similar to Barely Banana and not muted like So Saffron), Balmy Blue, Real Red, Blueberry Bushel, and white.

We'll be doing a family get-together for Ryan's birthday this Saturday so I'll take lots of pictures for future scrapbook pages.  Cheers!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Pure & Simple Alphabet Upper, Sweets & Treats, Paw Patrol stamps from Melissa & Doug
Ink:  Real Red, Memento Tuxedo Black, Blends in Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Smoky Slate, Soft Suede, Night of Navy, Ivory; Balmy Blue & Basic Gray markers
Paper:  Barely Banana, Real Red, Blueberry Bushel, Thick Basic White, Dandy Designs DSP, Real Red DSP
Accessories:  circle punches

Inked Pink Drinks

Mornin, y'all!  Happy Friday.  I must admit, I feel a bit guilty this morning...Ryan and I were both feeling extra tired this morning (not sure why, we both went to bed at the normal time last night), but I still bundled him off to school and then...I went back to sleep for another hour.  Let's just not tell Ryan that ; )

Anyway, this week has been a bit crazy with multiple things keeping me from my craft room and the brand new SU! order that arrived on Wednesday, but I did manage to make one card yesterday:

NEW GOODIES ALERT!!!  At the beginning of the month, I decided to do another order to take advantage of Sale-a-Bration and I had some Occasions catty goodies picked out and then I found out that there's new online only exclusives including an entire suite of coffee-themed stuff.  You may remember that I do NOT drink coffee (at all.  e.v.er.  ick!) but everyone else I know does, so I bought it.  And then I made this card and I know who's getting it.  Actually I could make this in a few color combinations and it would be great for pretty much all my friends.  Ha.

Anyway, here's the latest challenge from As You See It:

The entire Latte Love suite was part of my latest craft purchase, and the Most Adored DSP was on the order before this one (and let's not talk about the order I placed yesterday for that punch I forgot...plus a few other things...oops).

I lucked out that I got several other challenges to dovetail neatly into this one card, starting with the Cupcake Inspiration challenge:

I used Real Red and Flirty Flamingo, which are the two main colors in the Most Adored DSP.  Next, take a look at the Inspired By... challenge:

I had been planning to use some different new schtuff for the AYSI challenge, but when I saw this one of course I had to bust out Latte Love first, and happily the images I chose worked really well with the Sunday Stamps sketch challenge:

Four challenges, easy peasy!  I can't wait to play with this suite some more, not to mention all the other goodies I got.  But for today, I am GOING TO START ON MY WEDDING ALBUM RIGHT NOW!!!  I got all the pictures sorted out earlier this week and then circumstances kept conspiring to keep me out of my craft room for longer than maybe an hour a day and I really need to just start on that.  So I'm going to.

Just got an email from the hubs asking me to make cookies for his deployed comrades, who have been ridiculously busy of late, so I know what I'm doing this weekend.  Ryan can help me with cookie baking at least, I wouldn't let him near the wedding pictures.  Ha!  Cheers, y'all!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Latte Love
Ink:  Real Red, Flirty Flamingo, Versamark
Paper:  Real Red, Thick Basic White, Most Adored DSP
Accessories:  Latte Love dies, Stitched Rectangles dies, Wonderful Gems, white EP, Dimensionals
