Happy Snapdragons

Mornin' y'all and happy Mother's Day to all the mamas out there.  My spawn is currently playing video games while the hubs makes us breakfast : )

I have a nice floral card to share today:

Y'all know that with a blog called Snapdragon Stamps that of *course* I bought Inspiring Snapdragons last year.  Up to now I've always done them in pink, but they come in a whole range of colors so today I chose dark red.  Say hello to the Retro Rubber Challenge:

I asked the Google and snapdragons bloom in the spring and the fall so they count : )  Inspiring Snapdragons is just one year old, so not as retro as I usually do for this challenge, but the stamps and dies hit the last chance list a few weeks ago at a deep discount so go check that out if you're so inclined.

I used this week's CASE-ing Tuesday Sketch:

And I'm hoping to squeak my card in before the deadline at Creative Colour Challenges:

And one more for good measure, check out the Festive Friday challenge:

I used red, white, something shiny (the Low Profile Dots are very shiny IRL but it surprisingly doesn't show up much in the picture), and stitched edges.  I got out the Radiating Stitches dies for my layers.

Okay kids, I get to have waffles with strawberries and cream for breakfast.  Have a great day and don't forget to check out yesterday's Nancy Drew post, I'm still excited about that!

Ink:  Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive

Snapdragon Trio

Back again already!  I took Daphne out for her walk and I really need to remember to wear a hat when it's below freezing outside, the cold makes my ears hurt.  But we're back now and I have an XXL mug of chestnut tea : )

So here's another card for today:

I was thinking about Inspiring Snapdragons when I posted my lavender card yesterday, so it made a natural choice for this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

I didn't have any dies that I liked for the curved element, so I grabbed a decorative bowl that's in my craft room and traced the rim of it.  Old tricks are the best tricks, right?  The sentiment is from the upcoming online exclusive Motherhood Mottos, which has some pretty funny greetings in it : )

Check out this week's Color Throwdown:

I used Pretty Peacock, Pretty in Pink, and Lemon Lime Twist for my colors, though Pretty in Pink is a bit lighter than the color splat.  It's in the Lily Pond Lane DSP Stack with Pretty Peacock and that's why I chose it for my pink shade.

Okay, that's it for now, peeps.  I'm going to go enjoy the rest of my tea and work on something else in my craft room.  Cheers!

Regal Strength

Mornin' y'all, how's it going?  I got my two cookie doughs made yesterday and one of them I already know the recipe is not a keeper because I don't want to spend 30 minutes finely chopping up dried cranberries.  So I'll be baking those two doughs today and we'll see if I make the two bar recipes or not.

I have a special card to share today that I made for my friend Krissy, who lost her heart dog last Saturday after he suddenly collapsed.

I usually send her a card a week as part of my routine, but I wanted to send her extra love this week.  I used this week's Atlantic Hearts sketch:

I wasn't sure what I was going to do with the filigree shape on the right until I remembered the Cupcake Inspirations challenge:

Coincidentally, both challenges are on the same number : )  A bow was just the thing I needed for my card.  I knew I had that Pretty Peacock and gold ribbon from last year or the year before (I had never actually opened it, and this is why I rarely buy ribbons anymore) so I actually started my card design with that ribbon and paired it with the Regal Winter DSP since it has Pretty Peacock in it.  And from there the card came together pretty fast.

I also got all my Christmas cards sent off and mailed off one last package yesterday.  All the presents here have been wrapped; there are a couple of things that might not arrive until after Christmas but they'll just be birthday presents instead.  Feeling like I'm ready for the holiday now : )

Cheers!

Bright Snapdragons

Mornin' y'all!  I have an extra card this week.  Yesterday's Sweet Peas card was actually the second one I made for the Freshly Made Sketches and Colour Throwdown challenges, here's the first one:

The Pretty in Pink just kinda looks a little muted or dirty on the snapdragons and I wasn't sure I liked it when I finished with it, so I made the Sweet Peas card.  Here's the sketch again:

And the colors:

I used the exact same shades as yesterday, Lemon Lolly, Pretty in Pink, and Shy Shamrock, plus a fair bit of Night of Navy for contrast.

If the hubs is feeling good enough, we might head out to a local farmers' market after breakfast, so I'm going to go make some eggs.  Cheers, y'all!

Catty Inspiration with SUO Challenges

Hey y'all, it's time already for a new challenge from SUO Challenges!

And here it is:

If you need it, here's a bigger pic, we're on page 66 of the SU! catalog:

My eye was immediately drawn to the Pretty Peacock card on the right, so I used that as a starting point and made this:

I do love the Inspiring Snapdragons bundle and I want to see more stuff made with it so that's why I chose it for my card.  Plus do snapdragons come in pink?  Doesn't matter if they do in nature because they do in my craft room!  I found the lovely Pretty Peacock wash in the Thoughtful Journey DSP Stack and used it for the background for my snapdragons.  I chose a sentiment from Inspirational Sketches just because it was smaller than the ones from the snapdragon set and I could cut it apart like the card in the catalog.  I used a few long-retired Noble Peacock Rhinestones for accents as well as a dragonfly because why not.

You have three lovely cards to choose from for this CASE the Catty challenge, so I hope you'll share over on the SUO Challenges blog.  Have fun!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Inspiring Snapdragons, Inspirational Sketches
Ink:  Pretty in Pink, Granny Apple Green, Pretty Peacock
Paper:  Pretty Peacock, Granny Apple Green, Thick Basic White, Thoughtful Journey DSP Stack

Sparkly Snapdragons

Mornin' y'all, happy Friday!  Ryan and I will be heading to Waco today with my parents for a promotion ceremony.  I got up and did my workout this morning (okay, it was restorative yoga) but Ryan is still asleep.  Lucky him, 'cause I didn't sleep much.

Anyway, I have a card to share today with NEW stamps!

You totally knew that with a blog named Snapdragon Stamps that I would absolutely get the new Inspiring Snapdragons bundle.  The Snapdragon name actually comes from my high school band director, who was a little obsessed with his garden during my senior year and liked to compare us kids to different plants.  He called me a snapdragon and it's what popped into my head when I was naming my blogs.  (One of the other kids got a skunk cabbage, so I definitely count myself lucky with snapdragon!)

Anyway, I'm glad I got to bust out this new stamp set (and Charming Duck Pond for the sentiment) thanks to this challenge from Hand Stamped Sentiments:

I took my photos after dark last night so the colors aren't coming across as vibrant as they are in real life, and I can't fix them right now because it's so overcast, but I chose the colors Bubble Bath, Lost Lagoon, Soft Sea Foam, and a teensy bit of Berry Burst sponged onto the Bubble Bath flowers.  I'm also entering this card at Shopping Our Stash for the How Does Your Garden Grow challenge.  Paper gardens are the only ones growing around here!

I got a new Wink of Stella pen and you can actually see it in a picture for once!

Here's my kiddo yesterday on the last day of school:

I parked my car and went in to get him, and I was not at all prepared for the literal weeping and wailing I witnessed in the hallways!  I don't remember ever getting that way at the end of school, but it's been a long time since I was in elementary school.  Ryan was not a weeper or a wailer, though he did tell me yesterday morning that he wasn't looking forward to the last day of school because he would miss his teacher.  He was a bit downcast so I took him to Sonic for ice cream.

Okay, I need to go get him up and start getting ready for our road trip today.  Cheers, y'all!
