Scrappy Monday, y'all!  I've been scrapping up a storm (at least, as much as I can manage) so today's layout is one that I just finished within the last week or two.

This layout is comprised of random pictures from our first visit to Rome in 2012; see the original pics here, here, and here.  I let the SPQR picture work as my page title.

Today's color palette feels fall-inspired even though we took the pictures in May:  Cajun Craze, Delightful Dijon, Shaded Spruce, Early Espresso, and Very Vanilla.  I've been using Very Vanilla on a lot of stuff lately, I kinda go in streaks with colors sometimes.  I really wish I'd bought more than one pack of that Moroccan DSP, it's so fabulous and I am hoarding the bits for scrapbook pages like this.

China: Gala Dinner

Hey y'all, it's China Sunday!  Oh wait, it's Monday....okay, I forgot to post this yesterday!  So we're doing it now and guess what.  This is the next-to-last China layout.  Woo!

The Great Wall Marfon people had a "gala dinner" after the race, so that's what these pictures are from.  It wasn't extremely terrible, but it wasn't all that great either, and when we took these pics I think we were all ready to go home the next day.  The So Saffron pattern came from the Sweet Pea DSP stack which is not quite 12x12, which annoys me endlessly, so that's why the yellow strip doesn't go all the way to the edges of the layout.

Color palette today:  Cameo Coral (that's been retired forever!), Cherry Cobbler, So Saffron, Marina Mist, Basic Black, and Whisper White.

Gotta get the kiddo up so we can get breakfast and head to the Y.  Cheers, y'all!

Yusupov Palace

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Hope your week is off to a good start.  I'm starting the week with a layout from the St. Petersburg part of our 2014 Baltic cruise:

See the original pics here.  Yusupov Palace is now perhaps most famous as being the site of the murder of Rasputin.  The conspirators poisoned him and he didn't die, then shot him and he still managed to run out of the house before being shot in the courtyard, and then they bundled him up in a rug and disposed of the body in the Neva River.  See the mannequins in the two far left pictures?  They're reenacting the crime!  (The poisoning part, not the bloodier shooting part.)

I did a two-toned title again, using sponge daubers to ink up the letters in Delightful Dijon and Early Espresso and only on a scrapbook page would dijon and espresso go together because as foods that would be ick.  Anyway, I wish I'd managed to grab another pack or two of the Moroccan DSP when it went on clearance, I love that paper so I'm trying not to hoard it by using it on some scrapbook pages.

Today's color palette:  Not Quite Navy, Delightful Dijon, So Saffron, Early Espresso, and Very Vanilla.  And some fantastic patterned paper.

St. Isaac's Cathedral

Sooooo I was planning to make a card yesterday to post today, but instead I knuckled down and worked on that honeymoon album a bit.  Once I do some journaling and a wee bit of stamping, I'll have three more layouts completed for it which means only FIVE more left!  Woo.

So anyway, how's about some more scrapbook pages today!

Wow, that picture is crooked.  Tilt your head to the right ;)  Pictures are from another cathedral in St. Petersburg that we visited when we went on our Baltic cruise in 2014 (wow, three years ago already!).  See them close up here.  My favorite thing in this cathedral was the malachite columns, which you can see behind me in the picture on the bottom of the right page, so I decided to highlight them a bit by making my page base Emerald Envy.  And then that led me to the Moroccan DSP, which is retiring along with the Moroccan Nights stamp set.  Get that stamp set ASAP, I love it!  I'm sure it will make several more appearances in my scrapbook pages.

My title today is brought to us by the long-retired Letterpress and Rough Edges alphabets.  There's no apostrophe in the Letterpress Alphabet set, so I stamped the dot from the exclamation point (also used for the period), and then drew in the tail to make the apostrophe.

Some stamped accents to match the patterned paper.

I took the color palette directly from the Moroccan DSP:  Emerald Envy, Dapper Denim, Delightful Dijon, Early Espresso (I know it looks black, but it's not), and Very Vanilla.

Sounds like the kiddo wants his next bottle, so I'd better scarf down the rest of my breakfast so I can take care of him.  Cheers, y'all!

Denbigh

Scrappy Wednesday, y'all!  I have a squirmy hiccupy baby on my lap but he's not crying so I'm gonna attempt to type up this blog post!  One-handed, no less.

I did enough scrapbooking during my pregnancy that I have quite a few layouts that haven't been posted here.  For today I thought we'd go back to Wales, specifically Denbigh Castle.

A lot of times I'll try a few arrangements of photos before I settle on what I want to do, and I usually snap pics of them so I can compare the options.  So there's the one I didn't choose.  (The blank space in the upper right would have been for journaling.)

I've been using Jayne's Type for the titles of almost all my Wales pages.  The stylized sun is from Moroccan Nights.

Today's color palette:  Crushed Curry, Delightful Dijon, Cajun Craze, Gumball Green, Mossy Meadow, Basic Gray, and Whisper White.  I usually wouldn't pair Gumball Green (the patterned paper) and Mossy Meadow (the darker green photo mats), but it seemed to work on this layout so I went with it. 

I have SO MANY castle pictures (not complaining) that are a lot of gray, and then grass and sky, so it's a bit of a challenge sometimes to make the scrapbook pages for each one unique.  But since the main color is gray that means I can be more adventurous with the other colors I choose for the layout.  If you're curious, you can see more castle scrapbook pages here:  Rhuddlan Castle, Alnwick Castle, Chepstow Catsle, and Cardoness.  I've got more that I haven't posted yet :)

Moroccan Birthday

A rainy Tuesday morning to ya, stampy friends!  I have to admit, I'm a little relieved to have an excuse not to take my doglets for a walk today.  What can I say, I'm lazy.

Anyway, I have a super-fast card to share!

Yes, you saw that same medallion on yesterday's scrapbook layout.  What can I say, I'm lazy and it was on my craft table still ;)  Plus I just really like it.  If you look closely at the colors on the medallion, you might be wondering what I used...well, I used sponges and sponged Tempting Turquoise over most of the medallion but not the edges, and then Pacific Point around the edges.  I thought it would look kind of like the rock 'n' roll technique but a little softer...well, the colors kind of blended on the stamp so it's kind of a cross between Tempting Turquoise and Pacific Point and I like it :D 

Today's inspiration was provided by the Global Design Project CASE the Designer challenge:

I used similar colors, and I kept the yellow polka dots but my patterned paper is retired (because I don't have any left of the current Daffodil Delight polka dots).  I used Night of Navy rather than black as my neutral just because I liked it with the blues I already had on there.  And I kept my card a birthday card as well.

Their challenge closed yesterday, but I liked the sketch so much that I had to use it.  Plus it worked so well with that Moroccan medallion, ha.

British Museum

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Are you still eating Thanksgiving leftovers?  We are.

Anywha, it's time to share another scrapbook layout!

See the original pics up close and personal here.  It might be the British Museum, but I was most excited to see their Greco-Roman collections.  So almost all my pictures were of the Greek and Roman stuff.

Title block, I do love that Empire Alphabet.  And it seemed appropriate for this layout because British Empire.  Anyway, on a lot of these scrapbook pages from around the world I really like to use some kind of abstract design or architectural-inspired kind of thing, and this time it was the stamp set Moroccan Nights.  I used some of the smaller designs from the set on the journaling block.

Today's color palette includes Dapper Denim (and I'm now out of DD 12x12 cardstock, oops), Mint Macaron (which goes so well with Dapper Denim!), Cajun Craze (which I can't seem to stop using on scrapbook pages), Very Vanilla (which I've actually used a lot lately), and River Rock (which was a main color in the photos).

Well, I've got a busy day ahead with an eye exam and another ultrasound in the mix, so cheers y'all!

Moroccan Lanterns #2

So when the new SU! catalog came out this summer, one of the first stamp sets I wanted to get my grubby inky little hands on was Moroccan Nights.  It was on my first order but somehow I've only used it once before today.  I really need to sit down with this set and get to craftin'.

I do love those lanterns.  I started out with this week's Global Design Project challenge:

I kinda flipped the layout upside down so I could do hanging lanterns instead of floating balloons, and instead of stamping around the edges I did some light sponging.  Speaking of light, check out the Paper Players challenge:

Hubs is home early from work today so maybe we'll go watch some Olympics until dinnertime.  Or maybe I'll go make something else in my craft room, who knows.

Moroccan Lanterns

Greetings, friends!  I am very, very, VERY pleased to report that we once again have air conditioning.  It was miserable for days here, lemme tell ya.  It was still 80 degrees in the house when we went to bed last night, but now it's down to a very lovely 75 and I want a cupcake to celebrate.

Instead, I made a card.

Moroccan Nights was one of the very first stamp sets I wanted to get my grubby little paws on when the new catalog was released (and at least one of my paws looks grubby right now, as I managed to cover half my pinkie with Dapper Denim ink while making this) and then it sat in my collection for what seemed like forever (but was really a couple of weeks) and I'm glad it's having its maiden voyage now.  And once again there's the beautiful Moroccan DSP, which I puffy heart love and the only reason I can bear to cut into it is because I know I have 11 months left to buy more :D  Don't tell my hubs I said that.

Anyway, I used this week's Paper Players sketch:

I kept the circle because I love the new Layering Circles Framelits and they're just sitting out right next to my Big Shot because why put them away if I'm just going to use them again almost immediately?  This card will be going out in the mail tomorrow because it's already past my friend Sarah's birthday but I want to send this to her anyway because it feels like a Sarah card.  Except maybe I'll add some Wink of Stella to the lanterns because Sarah likes her bling.
