Señor Taco Says Fiesta

Mornin' y'all and Scrappy Monday will be back next week because today is the day we FIESTA like there's no mañana!  Because the mustachioed taco told me to.

I just had to make something for the Addicted to CAS challenge:

I couldn't decide between Taco Fiesta and Birthday Fiesta for my stamps, so I went with both : )  Nothing says fiesta like a mustachioed taco, amirite?

I woke up not feeling too great today and it's super misty and cool outside so I wonder if Daphne will substitute nap time for walk time today.  She's currently staring intently out the window so I bet not.  Guess I'd better take her for her walk...and then nap later : )  Gotta have energy to make enchilada loaf for dinner tonight.  It's kinda like a Mexican food version of lasagna, with layered corn tortillas, beef & onion, enchilada sauce, and lots of cheese.  (Total health food!)  And then tomorrow is, of course, Taco Tuesday.

That's it for now, peeps.  Fiesta!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps: Taco Fiesta, Birthday Fiesta
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Real Red, Stampin' Blends in Lemon Lolly, Granny Apple Green, Real Red
Paper:  Lemon Lolly, Thick Basic White, Full of Life DSP Stack

Holy Guacamole!

Hey y'all, happy Friday.  I had some fun in my craft room today : )

I couldn't resist making a Taco Fiesta card after seeing the new Festive Friday challenge:

I used orange, green, avocado, and mustache from the list.  Taco Fiesta is such a fun set, grab it now since it's on the retiring list!

This is actually the second card I made today, but I'll share the other one another time.  In the meantime I kinda wanna go get some tacos.  Cheers!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Taco Fiesta
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Poppy Parade, Granny Apple Green
Paper:  Shaded Spruce, Poppy Parade, Lemon Lolly, Thick Basic White, Flowering Zinnias DSP
Accessories:  Stylish Shapes dies, Tutti Frutti sequins (I think?), Mini Dimensionals

Gettin' Spicy!

Mornin' y'all!  I am sitting at the computer, which is next to front-facing windows in my house, and I'm keeping an eye out for the UPS guy because I have a Stampin' Up! order out for delivery today : )  I do have some things from my *last* order that I haven't used yet (don't tell the hubs) and I spent about an hour yesterday sorting out my wedding pictures.  I am GOING to get moving on that project THIS WEEK!  For reals!

But first, a card to share.  I wouldn't think it's possible to make a suggestive card with SU! stamps, on the whole they're pretty wholesome, but today's card is a little bit spicy.

I think it's the winking taco that makes me giggle.  It may be nonstandard, but I'm entering this at the Paper Players challenge this week:

The hubs and I grew up in Texas, so tacos are definitely our love language.  We made sure to go to Chuy's when the hubs was here at Christmastime.  Also, his birthday is ON Valentine's Day, which he hates, so I didn't want to lean into hearts for this one, and when I saw the color challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches, Taco Fiesta seemed like the natural choice:

Maybe I was hungry at the time, too.  And I used a modified version of the Try a Sketch on Tuesday sketch:

I made my card the standard A2 size rather than square, and kept the elements of the sketch a bit smaller to fit in with the CAS component of the color challenge.  I've got lots of white space (which is red, in this case) so it still feels CAS.

Okay, I'm going to go upstairs and see if I can come up with a plan for that wedding album.  I really do want to get it done by the time the hubs' deployment ends.  Project time!

SUO Challenges: A Spec-Taco-Lar Sketch

Hey hey it's TACO TUESDAY and also time for a new challenge at SUO Challenges!

This time around, we've got a great sketch for you!  Check it out:

And here's what I made:

A taco with a mustache AND a silly pun sentiment?  Oh yeah, I am HERE for it!  Once again I started with the Bright & Beautiful DSP and just went from there!  Lots of great patterns in this stack.

Hope you'll give this sketch a try and post your card on the SUO Challenges blog.  I think I need to make another card or two with this sketch, it's fun!  And tonight we're definitely having tacos for dinner : )

SUO Challenges: Pick Your Favorite

It's already that time again--a new challenge is going live from SUO Challenges!

And we have a question for you:  what's your favorite color combination?  We wanna see!  Make a card with your favorite combo and post it on the SUO Challenges blog.  I must admit I find this challenge a bit problematic...I don't have a single favorite color combo, I'm pretty much a fan of all things bright and beautiful.  So I used the Bright & Beautiful DSP Stack : )

I also piled on the Deckled Rectangles, I CASEd the layout from a card in last year's annual catalog.  I've been having fun pairing Lemon Lime Twist and Berry Burst with a few other colors, like Azure Afternoon or Blueberry Bushel...this time the third color is Pretty Peacock.  And all of those colors are in the Bright & Beautiful DSP so that works for me!  I pulled out some long-retired glitter enamel dots because they're Berry Burst and why not use up some of the stuff I already have.  (I did order a couple of packs of new embellishments but I didn't have them in hand when I made my card.)

We hope you'll share your favorite color combo with us at the SUO Challenges blog.  Have fun!  And also, happy birthday today to my dad and my uncle (twins).  Have a great day!

Let's Taco 'Bout It

Hey hey, happy Friday!  This is the first blog post I've actually written from our new house in Texas; we moved in two weeks ago.  We won't have all our stuff until probably close to the end of the month, but for now we have air mattresses, a couple of folding chairs, and the Internet, so it's enough to be doing with.

And Ryan officially made the first card in my new craft room, take a look:

He wanted to make a card for his dad, and since he didn't see any ducks in the stamps I have with me (I only brought the current sets, plus a bit of cardstock and a small collection of tools) he chose to go with tacos.  He helped with the die-cutting and did all the stamping and coloring and adhering himself.  I have no idea what could possibly be a BLUE taco filling, but he insisted.  And he put Wink of Stella on everything.

And there he is, hard at work!  For now, the work surface is limited to the windowsill, but we'll have the rest of our stuff soon enough.  Wonder how long it will take me to unpack everything all by my onesies?!  Ryan *says* he wants to help, but he gets bored pretty quickly.  I think he might be going to Camp Grandparents while I'm unpacking...

Cheers, y'all!

Taco Tuesday

FINALLY.  I can't believe it took me this long to ink up Taco Fiesta, I've had it for a month!  But its day has come, look!

I  kinda think I should have put faces on the tacos, but I didn't think of it until after I'd already stuck everything down with about a hundred Dimensionals.  The Granny Apple Green squares are up on Dimensionals, and the tacos are on a second layer.  Lots of coloring going on here too, I used Blends to color in the tacos and made my own patterned paper for the rectangular element in the background.  This card will be going out next week and I hope it makes the recipient as happy as it does me!

I used this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

Got a busy day ahead so I'd better get to it.  Have a great day, peeps, and remember--tacos are a valid option every day, not just Tuesday : )
