Mornin' y'all! I am pleased to report that we finished painting the master suite and my craft room is about 93% back in order. Wanna see some pictures?
It took two full days of painting (Friday and Saturday) and by Sunday Daphne said "Is enough, I confiscate paintbrush." She's trying to grab the handle from me. Daph was a Very Good Girl through the whole process; I made sure to still take her for walks in the mornings and she was patient with us locking her out of the rooms we were working in and just snoopervised from the doorway. Or snoozed.
So here's an in-process shot of the warcraft room. We had to paint the ceilings as well as the walls and it looks SO much better!
Starting to get the furniture back in place.
And there's Daphne last night back in her normal bed in her normal room. You might notice that the wall color seems to shift, sometimes it looks more gray and sometimes more blue. It also looks wildly different depending on the lighting, and I love it.
And here's the hubs playing World of Tanks last night after we got everything back in place. I will say I would have gone with a brighter, more fun color if it was just my craft room, but this is the main part of the master suite and if we sold this house, it would be the master bedroom so I picked a color that I thought was more appropriate for a bedroom and it IS the same color in our bedroom and bathroom. The way the walls go in here, we pretty much had to do the same color through the entire space.
And here it is this morning. Things got shuffled around a bit, as they always do when everything gets taken out of a room and then put back in, so now that shelving unit on the right (with the pumpkins) has my completed scrapbook pages and some other supplies, and the one on the left has my DSP and 12x12 cardstock. The pumpkins are a soft blanket and I put that in front of my scrapbook pages to protect them from light damage from the window...I've asked the hubs if we can do some UV film on the window, but we haven't done that yet. There's another blanket on the side of the shelving unit on the left side too.
Nothing changed with my file cabinets and hutch though : )
The last 7% of organization will be alphabetizing my stamps, but I need to put a few more stamp sets on cling foam before I tackle alphabetizing later today. I raised the level of the next to lowest shelf on my big Ikea bookshelves so that I could fit three photo boxes on the bottom shelves, and I fit in my binders and old catalogs around the photo boxes. Some of those do have pictures in them, a bunch are finished cards waiting to be sent out, and some of them are non-SU! stamps and other miscellaneous items.
So there used to be another shelving unit in that corner, and a bookshelf underneath the artwork, but the hubs is talking about putting a small desk in that corner and getting a PC. Given how much of this space is taken over by my hoard, that seemed reasonable to me, so the short bookshelf migrated elsewhere and that's why I reconfigured where my photo boxes are. The big shelving unit migrated to a corner of the guest room, and one of these days I'll figure out what to do with those To Sell? boxes. The sewing machine is in the corner because I accidentally snapped a leg on it trying to move it out of the room, so I'm hoping the hubs can fix it. I inherited that from my great-grandmother, and I don't sew so I used it as a table for some of my ink caddies. (Also, this is not the first time its leg has snapped, movers did that when we moved from Germany to Texas.)
Some of my Star Wars artwork with the new blue wall, trying to get a good picture of the color but there's shadows since I'm standing in front of the big window. I don't think I mentioned it, the color is called Faded Flaxflower by Sherwin-Williams but we color matched it at Home Depot because SW paint is stupidly expensive and didn't work as well for us. We bought paint there when we did the kitchen, and there was so much JUNK in the paint we got for the ceiling that we ended up tossing some of it and buying the color matched paint at Home Depot to finish painting the kitchen ceiling. Paint should not be lumpy. And we've done color matching at Home Depot for the entire rest of the house and never had lumpy paint from them.
My muscles are pretty sore from going full tilt for the last several days (I tried to stand up last night after lying in bed for about 10 minutes and I almost fell over), but I did a light workout this morning to try to stretch things out a bit. I'm going to take Daphne for a walk, then work on mounting those few stamp sets, and then I'm going to get everything in alphabetical order...and once that's done, my craft room will be officially up and running. Woo! Have a great day, y'all!
