Hydrangea Blues

Mornin' y'all!  I didn't have much time in my craft room yesterday and I really wasn't sure what I wanted to make when I sat down, but I liked yesterday's card so much that I thought I'd try the same thing again with the other big floral stamp.  So here it is:

I was intrigued by this week's Creative Colour Challenge:

And once again I used the Atlantic Hearts sketch:

I think they'll forgive me for plopping a big floral image in the middle of their sketch.  Here's my two cards together:

I think I still like yesterday's card better, but I'm glad I got to try out that fun color combination on the hydrangeas.

Supplies, hydrangea card:
Stamps:  Thankful Garden
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Summer Splash, Lost Lagoon, Shaded Spruce
Paper:  Summer Splash, Shaded Spruce, Thick Basic White, Summer Splash DSP
Accessories:  Thankful Garden dies & masks, Dimensionals, In Color Shimmer Gems

In other news, my Nancy Drew obsession continues; this is what came in the mail yesterday:

Numbers 1, 2, and 3 are the revised text versions but with different covers:

And the rest are all original texts.  I am super excited to read all of these and compare with the revised ones that I read so many times in childhood : )  I read up through #20 of the revised texts and then I started getting the originals, so I went back and reread both versions of #5 and now I'm continuing on with both versions of each book.  And there's a new Nancy Drew challenge post coming tomorrow!

That's it for now, peeps.  Have a great Friday!

Coral Garden

Mornin' y'all!  It's looking like a beautiful day today so I'm looking forward to taking Daphne out on her daily walk here in a little bit.  Then I have to drag Ryan to the store, I'm sure he'll hate that but at least he can pick out his own snacks.

And here it today's card:

I like how this turned out.  I had to do flowers for the most recent Color Hues Challenge:

I went with Calypso Coral and Garden Green, using blending brushes and the mask to color my floral image.  Next up is this week's Atlantic Hearts sketch:

That's it for now, peeps.  Gotta eat my breakfast so I can get Daph out before she goes bananas : )  Cheers!

Hello Lovely

Mornin' y'all!  I'm getting a leisurely start today after being so dead tired all day yesterday from being up late on Monday on airport pickup duty.  And I have Ryan here all day too; his farm camp adventure was curtailed yesterday when they called me a half hour after drop off because he'd thrown up.  He's fine, I think it was just a lot happening in a short amount of time, but since he's missed half of farm camp this week they let us reschedule him for later this summer which was very kind of them.  So anyway, I finally got some sleep last night and I'm ready to share a card today.

I just had to cut into my new Celebratory Sips DSP for the TGIF Challenge:

And since the SOS Challenge is to feature something sweet, I picked a fruity page to use for my card.  You can see I am still loving the Textured Notes dies too : )

I paired those challenges with the CASE-ing Tuesday Sketch:

I chose a very busy pattern for the big rectangular layer instead of putting a whole lot of die cuts on top of it and ended up using the same stamp set and dies for the greeting.  Weirdly the Pretty in Pink Flat Pearls look much more like Bubble Bath to me but that worked on this card for some embellishments.  Pretty easy and fun card to put together.

The mist has lifted so I think it's time to chivvy Ryan out the door so we can take our darling Daphne for a walk.  She didn't get to go yesterday so we definitely need to do it today : )  Cheers!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Sweet Blooms
Ink:  Blackberry Bliss
Paper:  Blackberry Bliss, Timid Tiger, Bubble Bath, Thick Basic White

Book Nerd

Mornin' y'all!  I am running on about four hours of sleep--the hubs and the kiddo came back from Alabama last night and by the time we got home from the airport it was almost one in the morning.  Then Daph woke me up to go outside at 4 and at 6 I just gave up and got out of bed.  I think a nap will be in order this afternoon before Ryan's swim lesson.  Still happy to have my boys home : )  Funny story:  I thought they were coming back on Sunday until Sunday afternoon, good thing I found out I was wrong before heading out to the airport late Sunday night!

Anyway, have you ever seen a challenge that just makes you ponder for a while?  Because that was me with this week's Paper Players challenge:

What do I have that I can recycle on a card?  I looked all over my craft room and was pretty much stumped, and then I came across some stickers on the dresser in my bedroom.  I buy hand-dyed cross stitch fabric from this wonderful lady in Indiana and she puts little goodies in the packages when she sends the monthly subscription fabric (I have enough fabric to last a couple of lifetimes but don't tell my hubs that).  It used to be candy, for a while it was cute little shaped erasers, and now it's stickers.  And I found two of them on my dresser and finally a light bulb went off.  So here's my card:

I used both stickers on my card front after stamping my bookish background with various stamps from For the Books.  And if you lurk here on the regular you know that I have been turning my book obsession into cards for a bit with my Nancy Drew challenge : ) so yeah those stickers are perfect!

I took my color cue from Cupcake Inspirations:

I used Peach Pie and Poppy Parade for the colors, happily for me that heart on the first sticker dovetailed nicely with this color challenge.  So yay, I've actually used two of the stickers instead of just letting them pile up in my house, so thank you to the Paper Players for the recycling challenge.  It started out as a head-scratcher but I'm happy with where we ended up : )

Time to get Ryan off to his first summer camp.  Cheers!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  For the Books
Ink:  Peach Pie
Paper:  Basic Black, Poppy Parade, Peach Pie, Whisper White on the inside

The Forum

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  I went digging through my draft posts, of which there are many, looking for a scrapbook layout to share today and I settled up on this one:

This was from our trip to Italy in 2012 with my friend Sarah and her hubs.  It's so funny to see ancient ruins just plopped in the middle of a bustling city like Rome.  I looooooove that dark green print on the outside edges and I think the Cajun Craze print is a nice counterpoint to it.

Today's color palette:  Sahara Sand, Evening Evergreen, Garden Green, Cajun Craze, and Very Vanilla.  I use white probably over 90% of the time, but every once in a while a layout just needs something different.  I got another layout most of the way done yesterday with a Sahara Sand page base, I miss that color.  I feel like Basic Beige is trying to be like Sahara Sand but it's just much too green, and not a pretty green either.

That's it for now, hope your week is off to a good start!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Rough Type, Well-Worn Alphabet, Travels Abroad, Travel Sketchbook
Ink:  Evening Evergreen, Sahara Sand
Paper:  Sahara Sand, Garden Green, Cajun Craze, Thick Very Vanilla, Bloom Where You're Planted DSP, Nature's Poem DSP
Accessories:  None

Quick Otter

Hey y'all!  I'm enjoying a few last quiet hours here and I made a quick card to share on this rainy afternoon.  Good thing I took Daphne out for a walk while it was nice and sunny earlier.

I don't know why the Otterly Amazing stamp and die bundle is on the Last Chance List but the DSP is not, but I love this DSP so I'll just be happy about it.  I used the Hand-Stamped Sentiments sketch:

And the As You See It theme challenge:

It took me longer to decide on all the parts and pieces for my card and get them ready on my table than it did to actually make the card, and here's what I clocked in at:

I was about to rifle through my embellies when I checked the time, squeaked, and stopped the clock while I was ahead.  But after I took the picture of the card, I did have to add some pearls:

It was okay without the pearls but I like it with.  But the pearl-less card is what is getting entered at AYSI : )

That's it for today, peeps!  I think I might start a scrapbook layout now.  Cheers!

Winter Bird

Mornin' y'all!  It's finally starting to warm up where I am and yet today I have a rather wintry card to share.

Check out the latest Freshly Made Sketch:

I used Pool Party, Gray Granite, and Real Red, all of which are in the Nests of Winter DSP so that's how I ended up in a winter wonderland today.

Daph woke me up early today and I don't really wanna be awake yet so I think I might try to go back to sleep for a bit.  Cheers!
