Mykonos

Dude, it is POURING outside.  Like, our tiny back area is already ankle-deep in water and it's not letting up any time soon.  Maybe I should start moving all my craft supplies up from the basement? ;) Not that we've ever seen this house flood, but it is awfully wet out there.

Anyway, I've got some sunny pages today!

This is from our Med cruise in 2013 (see pics here), and after I finished these pages I realized that I'm now finished with all our pics from Greece.  I think that means we need to go back!  Click the photo above to see the layout bigger, I love that pic of the Rock Ness Monster :D

Stamped title and one of the fussy-cut flowers.  I've used Poppy Parade on a couple of scrapbook layouts lately, totally loving it!  I seem to go through color phases...I think I did three or four layouts in a row with Night of Navy pretty recently, and then it was a couple with Poppy Parade.  I love color.

And there it is!  Bermuda Bay, Pacific Point, Poppy Parade, Peekaboo Peach, and Whisper White.

Well, the squirt woke up so I should go feed his little face!  Cheers, y'all.  Stay dry.

Ink:  Pacific Point, Poppy Parade, Peekaboo Peach

Polynesian Cultural Center

Mornin', y'all.  I'm a little grumpy today because little dog woke me up at 1:30, and then little baby woke me up at 3:30 and didn't want to go back to sleep EVER.  Yeah, that was fun.

So anyway, let's take a look at another scrapbook layout today, shall we?

These pics are from the Polynesian Cultural Center in Hawaii; see them (and more) here.  Somehow I managed to whittle down the pictures A LOT to only have one layout instead of, like, three.  I try to limit stuff to one layout because I still have zillions of pictures left to scrap, but sometimes things do get multiple pages.  But anyway, I was rather pleased with this one, click on it to see it bigger.

Today's color palette is straight from the Botanical Gardens DSP:  Old Olive, Mossy Meadow (retired), Cajun Craze, Hello Honey (retired), and Whisper White.  Normally I wouldn't have paired Old Olive and Mossy Meadow so I was surprised how much I liked them together.  It took me forever to get to this color combination...I'm wearing a red shirt in the photos, but most of the flowers are more magenta, and red + magenta is clashy so I was kinda stuck for a bit.  Then I decided to ignore the red and magenta altogether and use deep dark orange Cajun Craze just as an accent color, with the greens as the main colors and voila!  It worked.

I'm off to eat breakfast and feed Ryan too.  He's a lot cuter at 8:30 when he wants to talk to me than at 3:30 when we should all be sleeping.  I'mma teach this kid somehow...sleep is GOOD.  Cheers!

Disneyland!

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  I haven't made a card in weeks, but I have done quite a few scrapbook pages.  I have almost 30 draft blog posts to share here and I'm not stopping anytime soon :)

So anyway, today's scrapbook layouts feature pictures from 2006.

Um, I think the paper is that old too.  I dug out a really old set of Designer Series Paper called Kaleidoscope and used the coordinating colors:  Only Orange, Pink Passion, Pixie Pink, Summer Sun, and Green Galore are all long since retired.  Only Tempting Turquoise and Basic Black are still current.  Hey, do ya recognize that photo on the lower right?  That's my Splitcoast profile pic with the Captain Jack Sparrow pirate hair.

I continue to do crazy things like cut out my stamped letters for page titles.  The S, Y, and D look kinda yellowy in this photo but they're lime green.  The Mickeys are a punch I got ages ago, which reminds me I need to work on my album from our honeymoon--we went on a Disney cruise in 2005.  Yeah that's not scrapped yet either, but it WILL be!  (Let's not talk about my wedding photos.)

Second layout, these photos are mostly from California Adventure but even I didn't want to stamp and cut out a title THAT long.  Plus I needed some room for journaling.

Today's mostly-retired color palette, as I said earlier, includes Only Orange, Summer Sun, Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore, Pixie Pink, Pink Passion, and Basic Black.  I thought the bright colors worked perfectly with my Disneyland photos.  I've also got photos pulled out from our trip to Disneyland last year, maybe I should do those next! :)

Cheers, y'all!

Bear Book: First & Last Pages

Hey kids!  Guess what.  Today I'm finally at the last blog post for the bear book.  Woo!

This is a first year in the family book (adoption) rather than a baby book, so that's why the first page doesn't say "first year" on it.

I think I have just one 3-inch strip of that Baylor bear paper left but the rest all went to great projects :)

I love these paw prints too.  They're cut out of a sheet of pre-printed bear stuff so I have one for Bennet, one for Missy, and a little one for Carleton because Missy wasted no time in teaching him "Sic 'em Bears!"

Today's color palette:  Whisper White, Summer Sun, Handsome Hunter (I'm sad that I'm down to just a teeny bit of Handsome Hunter cardstock), and Early Espresso.

That's it for me today.  Cheers, y'all!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Rough Type
Ink:  Early Espresso
Paper:  Whisper White, Summer Sun, Early Espresso, Baylor University DSP

Stirling Castle

Hey y'all, how's it going?  I think I got a bit more sleep last night than usual (still not enough, but better), and Ryan went back to sleep after we got up at 4:00 this morning so I got more sleep after that too.  He's still asleep right now which is why I have time to blog :)

Speaking of time, I've actually used quite a bit of time since Ryan was born to work on scrapbook pages.  Like, I'm surprised how much I've gotten done--I've made SEVENTY scrapbook pages this year!  I work when he's sleeping during the day, or I take him downstairs with me and have him on a blanket on the floor next to me if he's happy to hang out for a bit.

But today's layout I made before he was born (I still need to take pictures of a bunch of layouts I've made in the last week or two).

So here's Stirling Castle, which we visited with Lee's parents, sister, and her family a few years ago.  Somehow I forgot to take my handy-dandy trip notebook with me *and* I never blogged these photos, so to be honest I don't really remember this particular castle.  We went to a lot of castles.  My journaling is basically what I looked up about the castle on Wikipedia :)  But I still like this layout!  I love the contrast between the light yellowy green and the dark purple (yes, friends, the dark color on here is Elegant Eggplant even if it looks weird and not-purple on your computer screen).  Haha, I'm wearing that same shirt right now as in that picture on the bottom right.

Title and journaling all in one convenient place.  Crowns are always a good accent for castle pages, right?

Today's color palette:  Certainly Celery, Elegant Eggplant, Basic Gray, Smoky Slate, and Whisper White.  The two gray colors are mostly in the photos.

With luck I'll get to finish my breakfast tea before Ryan wakes up again.  And if I'm really lucky, I'll finish another layout this afternoon!  I really am scrapping with vim and vigor.

Cheers, y'all!

Loch Ness

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  We had a good time last week with my friend Tiana and her girls visiting us.  And here it is time for another scrapbook layout!

I know it's tough to crack my secret code, but the photos are from Loch Ness in Scotland (is there even another one?  I think not).  See the original photos here.  And click on the photo of the layout above to look at it bigger, I'm rather proud of the alternating Night of Navy and Basic Gray mats on the right page.  Another thing I'm proud of?  The page title.

How'd I do it?  I inked up the letter stamps with sponge daubers so I could do both Night of Navy and Basic Gray ink and got this cool effect.  Obviously it's going to look best with thicker stamps rather than line art, but I love how this turned out on here.

Today's color palette is the long-retired Kiwi Kiss, Calypso Coral, Night of Navy, Basic Gray, and Very Vanilla.  I swear I'm using Night of Navy on almost everything lately.

That's all for now.  Squirt has the hiccups but he's pretty happy in his swing, so I think I'll go get cleaned up and take us both to the grocery store.  Cheers, y'all!

Elephant Trunk Hill

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  I'm working off about 4 hours sleep this morning, and Ryan has his two-month checkup this afternoon where I think he gets some shots, so today is going to be FUN.

So let's start off the day with a scrapbook layout.

Pictures are from our 2010 trip to China, see them here. 99% of the time, I don't crop my photos very much at all so this layout is a little different for me.  I like it though.  As ever on my China layouts, I used a lettering template and the Rough Type alphabet for my page title.  Makes these layouts feel like they all go together without having to use the same colors on everything or something like that.

Speaking of colors, here's today's color palette:  Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango, Smoky Slate, Basic Black, and a teensy bit of Pistachio Pudding in the patterned paper.  That Venetian Romance paper is great for travel photos from a lot of places other than Venice (though I used it for that too!).

Wish me luck today, y'all.  Cheers!
