Mixed Berry Rose

Hey, kids!  How did you like the Nachos' projects yesterday?  I still need to go visit all my teamies' blogs so I can comment :)

Anyway, on to today's card.  When the Occasions catalog came out, I fell in love with the Rose Wonder suite (like a lot of people) but then after I got it, I didn't make anything with it which is a shame because it's beautiful.  So I fixed that problem today!

The rose is a die cut and I'll show you how I put it together further on down the post.  For now though, I got the sketch from Create with Connie and Mary:

Is it just me or are diagonal elements IN this year?  Anyway, I also used the Global Design Project theme challenge:

Easy peasy lemon squeezy!  And finally, I just couldn't let the Just Add Ink color challenge pass me by:

All hail the power of purple!  Now, let's talk about how I did the rose.

At first my plan was to pop the rose up on Dimensionals, so to that end I die cut a circle and adhered the rose outline to it.

Then it was just a matter of moving the Rich Razzleberry pieces over to the Blackberry Bliss rose outline.  The one on the left still has the waxed paper on it from when I ran it through the Big Shot; even after my mixed berry rose was done, I have an extra Rich Razzleberry outline and I can use the waxed paper piece as a mask.  Triple win.

Let me tell you that I think one of the detail glue pens would have been fantastic for this project; I ended up with glue on some places that I didn't want it.  And the piece on the lower left of the rose didn't have quite enough of the circle backing to be really stable, so I ended up adhering the whole thing directly to the card front, but it's still pretty if you ask me :D

That's it for me today, y'all.  See you tomorrow!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Rose Wonder
Ink:  Rich Razzleberry, Blackberry Bliss
Paper:  Tip Top Taupe, Rich Razzleberry, Blackberry Bliss, Thick Whisper White, Cherry on Top DSP Stack

Lovely! I like the title of your post as well. These colors really do look like mixed berries! This rose is so fun to play with, especially when it gets assembled like a puzzle! Thanks for joining us at create with Connie and Mary!

Christy, I love that suite too and like you, haven't used it much. I love what you have done here though and feel inspired to put ink to paper! Thanks for playing at Global Design Project with us this week.

You went to a lot of work to transfer all the pieces from one rose to another and it looks wonderful! I have not tried this yet with this die, but think I need to give it a go! Thanks for sharing your creation and thanks for playing the Create with Connie and Mary sketch challenge!
