Hello Rose

Okay, as promised, I have something a bit more cheerful today.  Here it is:

I didn't realize how often I stamp this rose with Rococo Rose ink until I looked back at all my other To A Wild Rose projects, haha.  I guess my brain is literal.  I added some Crumb Cake and Early Espresso to the challenge colors.  And rhinestones, because rhinestones seemed like a good idea.

It seems that my electric kettle is going to the Small Appliance Graveyard In the Sky, so I've got to get a new one.  I drink too much tea to go without an electric kettle ;)  Cheers, y'all.

Gratitude in the Face of Grief

Hey y'all.  I'm still struggling in my craft room a little bit; I can't seem to get scrapbook pages to work for me and trying to work on them has been a little frustrating.  I decided yesterday that I needed a couple of thank you cards though and I do love how they turned out.

I love the dog punch; the matching stamp set is retiring but the punch will be in the new catalog.  The sentiment stamp is from A Big Thank You which is retiring as well.  I knew I wanted a Crumb Cake pattern for my card so I pulled out the long-retired but still awesome Fresh Prints (of Bel Air) stack and a bit of retired ribbon.  (I have a ridiculous amount of retired paper!)

The Fab Friday sketch was perfect for what I needed on my card:

I made one of these to send to the veterinarian who cared for Sadie at the end.  The other is going to some friends who live down the street from us; the other day my husband found a bag on our front porch and inside was this little sign:

I'm going to frame some pictures of Sadie and Vader and display them with this.  It makes me cry to look at it right now because I miss my fur babies so much, but I do adore the sentiment and someday I won't be a human waterfall.

This is the last picture I took of Sadie, just two days before she died.

SUO Challenges: Girl Power

Okay, I'm trying to get back in the swing of things, and to help me along with that, we have a new challenge starting at SUO Challenges.

This time the challenge is to make a card for a lady in your life--I know Mother's Day was last weekend, but that doesn't mean we can't make cards to celebrate all the women we know:  moms, daughters, nieces, friends, whoever.

I decided to go with Beautiful Friendship for my stamp set because I love the floral images and it's so easy to make a pretty (and feminine) card with them.  I had pulled out the striped pattern in consideration for something else and didn't use it, so I started with that on here and let it dictate the colors for my card--Lovely Lipstick, Petal Pink, Purple Posy, and Mint Macaron (not in that particular pattern, but still featured in the Best Dressed papers).

Sadie Belle

Hey y'all.  Last week was really tough for me.  It's been a week since she died, and I'm still looking for our Sadie girl in all her favorite spots.  Sigh.

After Vader died last year, I really put some effort into getting a lot of our dog pictures scrapped.  We loved those doggos, and as I told my husband, I'd wager that I spent more time in a room with one or both of them over the last 13+ years than I have with HIM.  Today's layout is from right when we first adopted our Sadie in July of 2006.

Sadie was an accidental acquisition :)  We had driven up to Greenville for the day and I wanted to go to their Michaels, which was right next to Petsmart, and they were doing an adoption event and there was Sadie all tiny and cute and extra fluffy and it was love at first sight and she came home with us.  I miss our girl.  And Vader.  But I'm glad I made all the pages for them that I have; I'll need to get the album put together soon.

Today's girly color palette is Pink Pirouette, Close to Cocoa, Barely Banana, Real Red, and Basic Black.  Sadie came home with a brown collar (I think it had fish on it?! Maybe it was actually a cat collar) but we soon got her a red collar and she wore red for the rest of her life.  Vader wore a blue collar.

Sadie

We said goodbye to our girl Sadie yesterday.  It was absolutely the right decision--she wasn't eating, and the vet discovered she had a mass on her spleen, and we knew she was in a lot of pain--but that doesn't make it hurt less.  We did get to go in and spend some time with her before the vet gave her the last shot, for which I am grateful; her passing was much easier than Vader's was last year.  But my heart hurts.  We got her in July of 2006, when she was just 16 weeks old, and she turned 14 last month, so that's how long she's been my near-constant companion.

Painted Butterfly

Hey, y'all.  Scrappy Monday is being moved to Tuesday because I wanted to share this card before the challenge closes:

I love the Beautiful Day stamp set; I bought it on a whim and have never regretted it.  The big bold butterfly and flower images are great for all kinds of techniques.  For this card, I stamped the butterfly with Pretty Peacock ink, and then used the splatter stamps from Painted Poppies to paint the butterfly with Pool Party and Flirty Flamingo.  Super easy and it's meant to be a little free-form, so no worries about coloring outside the lines ;)

Ryan: May

So how many weeks have we been in lockdown now?  Seems like forever and here we are in May.  Wonder when this will all end.

I suppose it's appropriate that today's layout from Ryan's baby book is for May!

When Ryan was really little, I seemed to take a lot of pictures of him laying in my arms or selfies of the both of us, so that's what most of these pictures are.  That picture on the right where you see "OMG" on my shirt is really funny with Ryan's facial expression.

Today's color palette includes Call Me Clover (love this green), Crushed Curry (why do I always do green and yellow together?), Blueberry Bushel (I'm now hoarding this blue), Balmy Blue (if they had a 12x12 package of just this color, I would hoard it too), and Whisper White.  I like it.

My big plans for this weekend include lots of laundry and not much else.  How about you?
